There is a very easy way to make it Look Like it was Chopped ! When you paint the car , paint the top from the bottom of the windows up and the complete top in a dark color . Then paint the bottom a lighter color . that will give the allusion that the top was chopped a few inches . Then get the same color as the top and have a piece of vinyl the same color as the paint about 3" and put on the top of the windshield . That will make the windshield look like it was cut down too . Would be way easier than trying to do a real chop on a fordor ! Just a thought . Jim
good thought Jim, I may try that...lol.. but I am going down to Seattle Wa. , monday to buy a 54 Ford Vicky... that is the one I have been looking for.. soon I will have a very nice, 4dr for sale.....my body is a wore out 62 and my mind thinks I am 30...
I have been thinking about doing this too. My thoughts were along the lines of using the doors from a 2 door but keeping the rear doors functional albeit shortened and suicided, much similar to a modern truck with the jump doors. Not sure I could get the hinge to work tho. The roof could come down and forward and still keep the proportions right. I'm still thinking this one through
choptop If you want to suicide the rear doors. I suicided the doors on a 78 Chevy pick-up last yr. I went to pick-n-pull and picked up a set of 58-62 ford pick-up door hinges for under $25. I installed the right hinges on the left side and left hinges on the right. This work out real good and the ford hinges can take the weight. These hinges swing to the outside so there is little modification to door jambs. Just a little info for you.
