Recently picked up this 58 unfortunately ending up doing a frame off on and look curious how much you guys are lowering and how. I pretty sure I can get springs made just not sure how how much 3” or I’m think 5 n 6? I do see they make dropped spindles but only ones that you have to convert to disc brakes along with a gun it
Air the tires up right, set the car on a flat surface and cut a couple of blocks out of scrap wood that are the same height that your rims sit off the flat surface and then slide them under the rockers. That most likely how far you can legally lower the car as long as no part of the chassis hangs below the bottoms of the rims when you are done. From there how low you go has more to do with with how well you deal with the chassis getting hung up on driveway entrances and exits, how humble you can be when a police officer (usually state patrol level) stops you for scrub line violations and if you are willing to ask your significant other to step out of the car so you can hopefully get off what you are hung up on and can move the car a bit. I had to do that at a grocery store in Bonteful Utah with my 48 when it was about two inches lower than it is in my avatar.
I would suggest a complete set of new 1958 Chevy Impala coil springs. The Impala model was about 2 inches lower than the standard model for Chevy, 1958. With new springs added with fender skirts will give you the look that you want without the problems of being two low.
That must be the only one in the neighborhood. Can't wait to see how you bring it along to the finish
