Chopped and Leaned: The Roadster Windshield Thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by -Brent-, May 22, 2012.

  1. NHRA Street Roadster class required a windshield. Some of those guys got pretty creative.

Here's my roadster, not chopped, just slanted way back.
I actually bought the body with the windshield already slanted, so it was done this way in the 50's probably.

That looks really good! It makes the car look fast, sitting still.

  8. I feel the same way. If the windshield is leaned, it should be modified at the bottom/cowl mounts to lean it wherever it needs to be.

Bent a tiny bit is OK...

    bent alot...looks stupid. IMO.

I think that bent look really takes away from alot of really nice, high end, high quality cars out there.

Here is my 27, kind of drag roadster style, although I recently put a dropped 32 heavy under it which makes it a bit more Hot Rod looking:

I leaned the posts back as far as I could, although I may take another inch or two out of the height. I'm on the lookout for the right Halibrands for the front.

Man I love the last picture here. 30/31 roadster with what looks like a chrome 32 3 window dash! Awesome!

Fitting for the thread is Tom Pollard's roadster, posted by Brian Bass on Facebook, today.

As I recall, didn't the Pollard car use a '27 windshield? I always suspected it wouldn't close completely.

    It does look great, though!

  28. I was just reading about Pollard's car today in Pat Ganahl's Lost Hot Rods book. I love that car! The windshield works really well I think.
