Chopped Merc with "open wheel spiders"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by safariknut, May 12, 2004.

  1. Thought I'd post a couple of pics of a project I've been fooling with on and off for a couple years now.Just added a few items including steering and the"spiders".The top is piano hinged on the side and this will be my new paint box for toting 1-Shot around shows.

  2. Ray, that's neat! What a great idea.

I don't think Ypsi is starting until the first Thursday in June but I'll try and make it at least once this year.Things are really hectic right now.

That's a nice paint box safariknut. How much storage do you have in there?

Surprisingly quite a bit.I was doing some test fitting and using my "travel case"(a make-up case that holds 4 small squeeze bottles, about 16 1/4 pint cans, brushes, magnetic strips, and various other bits)I can fit in 4 1-quart cans of thinner, etc.(including two with spouts on them),my palette and tripod, two rolls of Bounty, and a package of extra 1 oz. cups(50 count). It's even situated to where nothing rolls around loose.
To answer your question Ian,it is a bit heavy but I can lift it in and out of the back of the Safari myself.Unfortunately I have to put the seat down as it won't fit crossways.I had thought about removing the surfboard and putting it on the roof, but that might create more problems.
I might re-engineer it later to hold regular cans and not as much excess stuff.I'm just kind of having fun with it now.My friend Scott(instructor at the local VoTech)wants to either Metalflake it or do a Chromallusion paint scheme on it.I was going to paint 55 Pontiac side trim on it and paint it turquoise and ivory but that will be later if ever.
