Killer has never let an unsafe Car out of his Yard Not a big shop or GoldChain.

He is the most inventive builder I have ever met. Period.

For what it is worth He wouldn't let me leave one day because My car was doing stupid shit . Daily driver I wasn't even worried about it but he wanted to fix it.

LJA...like your style. Come up unannounced from behind, fuck 'em hard, and walk away smiling!

you have a nice day now! ya hear.

fuckin a , been a long time since i spit coffee on the computer screen.

are you a total fucking idiot?, i suggest, as with others, you do a search on killers posts, and know who you are talking to before you run yur pie hole anymore

its only because of where that car is now, that it will become any kind of driver at all, as well as safe.

    newbies........

I about did the same damn thing grimlok. wonder what jason will have to say about this. you aren't very bright calling people out like that, even if you are "backing a buddy up" and for what its worth the interior is an interesting idea and done nice, but the car is to fucking low

"Lifestyles" are for pride parades and don't break your arm patting yourself on the back cause this post is just about as "festive" as a parade in the LBC...

Maybe all you "Proud" newbies can get together and form a club or something. Then you could all get matching jackets...

What if you're neither a "noobie" (sic) or an old timer? Do we not have a say whether this "lifestyle" dies or not.
Anyway, I can't imagine that there are too many old timers about that have got away with building cars with that kind of shoddy workmanship. I reckon natural selection would have weeded them out by now [IMG]

It's way low and way cool. Mabe a sea of sameness would better suit some of the nay-sayer's....super size it and drive through.

Looks great that low, but I bet its a biatch to drive. Anyway you can have both the cake and eat it too?.....Air Bags....but then it wouldn't be a traditional ride. Having it that low is for the hardcore, kinda like a rigid bike. Gotta be tough to ride or drive em. I'll take it low, thats a number 6 right? I'll biggy size it too.

Whether it's too low, too high or too cool, I don't give a toss. Those photos are fucking scary. A gob of weld for a lock-nut, ferfucksakes!!!!! How would you feel if it crossed lanes into a friend of yours on the way to a show 'cos of the crap suspension set-up?
Makes me glad we have an annual inspection over here. It keeps shite like this off the roads and away from other traffic.

I love it when prison slang makes it out to poser culture without a hint of irony. ha ha ha.

This isn't about young guns or greybeards (there are old and young guys getting in on this on both sides) its about pride in craftsmanship. We all make mistakes as we learn new things but that car shows no pride . . and it is offensive to those who put in the long hours to learn how to do things right. . . old or young.

Did none of the other "Cavaliers" have a single bit of constructive criticsm for this guy. Maybe you guys that "have each others backs" ought to look at each others cars a little closer and help each other out.

The car looks so good from 20 ft, that im going to "say thats a neat car" then im going to squeeze into it, take it for a test drive, and then buy it ! Let's get the facts straight.....1st...anybody buying a used car should research 1st....wheather it be more detailed pics, physicall inspect or have a abeled inspector along....the car was aquired by a winning bid. buyer never asked for detailed pics, other than the ones that eveyone else saw. never came out to inspect or test drive, till after he was the highest bidder.Still had chance to inspect and back out!! nope, looked the car over...couldve walked away, no hard feelings. nope .instead car was delivered. On behalf of the car , not the builder. el B Tiki started life as a 70+ year old body, which was sandlasted. filler never cures rust, jackass, new metal does! the only remaining rust, was left as a reminder of wher it came from, in plain view. how could anything be missed, is beyond me.the car was built well, with solid 220 welds, in a garage powered by 3 hamsters on a wheel..the car was never advertised as a flawless trophy queen !it is what it is, either you like it or you like it ! PS im almost done with my weld at home in 30 days certificate

The car has a good stance. And it's colorful.

But here's a list of things that are uncool on any hot rod:

Uncool: Gas tanks and batteries mounted with plumber's strap
Uncool: suspension links tack-welded to their rod ends
Uncool: Weak, failing front spring perches. On a "suicide" front end
Uncool: Z'ed frames with inadequate bracing
Uncool: "Kinked" rear wishbones without reinforcements
Uncool: 15 degrees of camber . .. on the street
Uncool: Wobbly, ungusseted front shock mounts
Uncool: "Dog Turd" welds with inadequate penetration
Uncool: Mismatched chop seams that aren't fully welded
Uncool: Trim screws pokin' through the roof into the interior
Uncool: Unrepaired rustholes that are painted over
Uncool: A "section" that consists of cutting 3 inches off the bottom of the body

Any car with these "features" is a frickin' death trap. Don't build 'em like that. Don't encourage builders who build 'em like that.

To The guy that built that POS Tiki car.....

I wouldn't let you weld on my trash trailer.....you would do yourself a big favor and learn something from some of the hack's around here and stop being so proud of that butcher job.......but I guess you're laughing all the way to the bank, huh?

And making yourself look like an ass. If that's what you're here for fine. But I prefer a well built car, not a perfect car but one I'm not afraid to drive from here across the country and back. One that's not going to cause an accident when the spring perch or shock mounts fail. You can kiss your boys ass all day long but he failed on the details. Neat look but it mind as well be a model I wouldn't drive it.

And if you're here for lifestyle tips, you definately came to the wrong place, but I hear the OSR board is back up...

You sound like the kinda guy who would put power windows and power steering in a hotrod.....The construction of the tiki is good......Ivan does not build tanks.......he builds hotrods........you may be more happy with a Honda......The only way you can ever be happy is to build it yourself!!!! Don't knock someone else's craftmanship just do it different....

I can bet alot of the post made are A) you drive a new car... B) don't know how to build one...yet hav alot to say about something you know nothing about......

Yes I do drive a old car....no I didn't build it...and the bondo on my hood doesnt take away from the car being badass!!!!! or the rust...mine has less cosmetic touches then the tiki and yet get alot of thumbs up!!!!!

YES, we did have constructive criticsm for this guy.

    1. The floor tack welds: The floor is just a cover over 1" square tubing that also ties the body together.

    2. The body was pretty rough to start with. The rust holes and stitching that shows were meant to be there. Lots of other "rat rods" have them, they're just not painted.

    3. The stupid, unsafe tack weld on the rod end: This was done for mock-up only because the threads at the end were bunged up...this should have been changed before the buyer picked it up.

    4. The battery held on with stupid unsafe plumbers tape: The builder was warned, he said it was just for mock-up to get the engine running and he would permanetly mount it with a battery box before it was sold. What happend next..I donno.

    5. Unsafe welds: Can't vouch for penetration cause I didn't cut anything apart and inspect, but I will say this, Ivan has built 6 maybe 10 cars that he did weld work on...still runnin years later...

    6. The car was built to sell, case in point, when I sat in it with the gas tank mounted behind the seat, I didn't fit. Ivan said if the buyer needed more room, he could move the tank to fit the buyer...if the buyer wanted changes he could do it.

Safety is VERY important. Some very good points have been stated here, Can we keep it CONSTRUCTIVE regardless of the venacular, prison, gang, hot rod, young, old, newbie, old hand...etc. we are all thankfully part of the HAMB

regarding, fix its ? easy to say its wrong, on the worldwide hamb, discredit the build and the builder. it would have been easier and less hostile, to deal directly. but where else can you say, hey its broke. but im going to fix it, make it right, burn and discredit the the builder and then it will be safe, and then take credit for the build !, without really getting your hands dirty.......where else, than the HAMB , hope to see your new and improved El B tiki ,you should probably change everything, since your making it yours...

I don't understand. If he's only happy with something he built himself, how could he be happy with a Honda? (Unless Killer really builds Hondas? Which I doubt.)

Anywho, I've never meet Killer personaly, but I've heard nothing but good things about him and his cars and I'd love the pleasure of meeting him someday and judging for myself.

You know what, I give up.

If you guys want to make heros out of guys who build dangerous cars have at it!

But do yourself and your family a couple of favors:

    1) Sign up for a welding class at your local ROP center or Community College.

    2) Buy a couple of HP books on chassis construction and metal fabrication before you try to build one yourself.

    3) Ask yourself, WWCFD? What Would Cole Foster Do? He wouldn't half-ass anything to save a dollar, would he?

I am tired of argueing with everybody.

    Don't PM me

    Have a nice day

I think I understand where you are coming from, being that you live in Orange County, and probably have had a chance to see a car or two built by Acme Chop Shop. I agree with you on the framework needing to be safe. I only got a quick glance into the garage of the Tiki car, but I have seen other scary looking framework going on with a truck owned by someone I knew that Ivan had a hand in. I am not saying he did the whole framework on the truck, but I would never have let anything leave my shop looking like, and being as unsafe as this truck was. Major death trap.
