been working on this 52 chevy for about 4 monthes now. it is a 4 door 52 chevy, that has been chopped 5 inches in the front and 6" in the rear. it has been Widened 10 inches, and lengthened 8 inches. the hood and trunk have been sectioned. the body is sitting on a 83 chevy caprice frame/ floor/ firewall. lots of work but not alot of money im only in this project about 2500 right now. and the interior got all done last week. i just havent had time to take any new pics, also i have replaced the rockers, anyways enough typing ill show the pics..

the 52 was to narrow to fit the floor the way i was wanting it to sit. i didnt want to cut the floor and frame up, and the body was already so cut up it was easier to just widen the 52.

hood was by far the hardest part on this car because it to be widened and lengthened, and i sectioned it a while back , i actaully did a tech post on it.

paint stripped, custom steelies for the rear so there is only about 1/2 inch gap from the quarter, and a center strip added.

these pics are my most current and there proly like 6 weeks old because ive been wiring and doing the interior so i havent taken any new pics.

got the rockers replaced and the interior done and now have the motor running great so this bitch is driveable.

in all truth i think its kinda " R " wordy for this site, and the metal work is shit compared to most of the other builds, but i thought it would be good to show for the people that want to just try the shit out for themselves its not as scary as you would think.

yea thats the main downside of widening.

but i did get some lexan cut to fit and thats gonna have to do.

That was the first thing that came to my mind too. I suppose you could cut two stock windsheilds off center and make a v-butt or split windsheild. The rear window will need some planning as well.

How do the seats look inside? did you widen them as well to fill the interior space?

    Interesting project...

i was thinking this originally when i was doing the cutting, i went with lexan but i think this could still work.

went with bucket seats so nothing needed widened on the interior

It's not too bad. The only thing that doesn't look right is the added length to the front fender. That's a hell of alot of work though.:)

is the center of the roof meant to be low, or was that an 'oops'? Cause, honestly, it really looks like a mistake, and those rods that appear to be welded down the middle look like a poor attempt at trying to hide that mistake. I'm honestly not trying to bash your work, just telling you how it looks from here.

oh, and why did you choose to add the length to the front? Seems to me like the back would make more sense... just my opinion I guess

my buddy benny bought a car that had a ton of round stock welded down the hood and on the fenders.....really goofy rockabilly shit. said the guy who did it told him he was trippin on acid and the idea just hit him so he got to work.

this kinda reminds me of that.

looks like you have some time tied up in this build. ill bet it drives nice with the whole caprice chassis already dialed in. no need to mix n match brake parts or try and find a chevy to ford to dodge u joint.

and no offense intended by the acid comment....just wanted to share.

no offense taken if it wasnt for acid i would of never started messing with cars in the first place :D

and yes by the way it is one of the best things in the world just being able to start, drive and stop a car without messing with everything.and the heavy bitch rides realy smooth.

I dig it. But then again, I want to take a junk '58 chevy 4-door (eliminate the rear doors), and narrow it 12", and shorten it 6" in the front, 6" in the middle, and 6" in the rear.

    < No, not this one.

  30. hey you gotta learn somehow. how bout a split front and rear window treatment , might be easier to figure some kind of glass out. as far as the front fenders go, first thing i thought when i saw the 3/4 front view was Tucker. if worse comes to worse you could always call it MUDPUPPY.
