Realizing that I may be retarded, Did you consider using olds glass in it? Its one piece and and is pretty flat through the middle of the windshield. Using two,I would thing it would work pretty well as a split window. It looks great, you just need to polish it up a little and park next to a stocker as often as possible!

Nothing a couple gallons of Bondo can't fix. We will call you the great Bondini! When you get done it will have more plastic than the Fiero "Ferrari" Kit cars! HAHAHAHAHA! Kool project though! Hell I would cruize it!

Wow! That is a lot of work! I don't know if you are already beyond the stage of smoothing out the flow between welded panels, but if I could give a little advice that might help?

I would stretch the low areas up so that you have better flow between panels for less filler in the final product. You can stretch and smooth with fairly cheap tools that are faster than a simple hammer and dolly. A palm nailer with a stainless carriage bolt will stretch the lows up to where you can smooth them with a hammer and dolly or planishing hammer.

I show how to do this in my youtube videos. Especially see Custom Metal Bodywork Part 2. I hope you get a few ideas from them.

I have used Lexan with Margard (protective surface) as a windshield in a roadster I built, it worked great. If you use it, make sure you fasten it to the windshield frame with something more than just a rubber seal so that it will resist popping through if something hits it.

    Keep up the amazing effort!

i was truely worried about the lexan after hearing how many people thought i ruined this car by only being able to run lexan windshields instead of glass. but i put the lexan in and it looks GREAT. the shit is real sturdy and ive put about 50 miles on it so far and havent even been able to tell the difference from glass. who knows how lexan got such a bad rap cus its working out awesome for me.

only had about 80 bucks in both windshields also!

    anyways heres some updated pics

You created a custom out of nothing and it is an attention getter for sure. Thanks for the pics and show us the finished car when you get there.

Man I give you credit for taking on a project this big, not knocking it but you need to put 2 door sedan doors on it and move the door jamb back to balance out the look, it would help the side view with the front fenders being lenghtened I think it would help the look. just my 2cents..........:D

yea i agree. but after looking for 2 monthes and not finding and front doors for less than 1000 i just welded the rears shut. it would look better with full doors, but the chop makes the rear doors not look as bad as other cars that have the rear doors welded shut.

What's it titled as, an 83 or a 52? I admire your ambition, wish more folks in all walks of life had some of it.

For no more money than you have in it, great car! Youve got to have a record for the lowest amount of money spent...(and I mean that in a good way)

I like it! But then again... what do I know. I like most of the odd things in life.

  21. I think you did an amazing job, makes me feel like a puss for being nervious about chopping a top... obviously from some of the post here it's not everyone cup of tea, but what custom is? too many think to be "correct" is has to be built like everyone elses, but that is not the spirit of customizing, you did your thing as you saw it and it is going to be awsome when it's done.. or is it done?... good job

I learned all about building cars from a guy in Maspeth NY named Willie (The Welder) Feyh in fact he built the MG I now own and am restoring to its racing glory. He never said "I can't do that". Its guys like Willie, and you Southpark that give me the courage to keep pushing. Great Job.

You're getting your panties in a wad over him cutting up a 4 door?

You may like 'em but it's not a rare car by any means.

    Gimme a break.
