Searched the "search option with key words to no avail.......Saw some pics, probably from someone's thread how they did it. I can picture it now,but looking at an actual picture would just help that much more to understand and see things....I know, not rocket science, but from the pics I saw, would be the route i'll take. Anyone remember that post/pics? Also- If you have your own to share, that would be great! Not into dumping coin for some re-pop's,rather do my own since I have them. Thanks-Kid
I have chopped many 1930-32 windshield stanchions in the past, long before chopped stanchions became available. you don't just cut out a section and weld the top and bottom back together without the missing section. I have seen many done this way, and they look crude. I cut the top part off, and then cut a long thin pie shaped piece out of the outside of the stanchion. this way you can end up with a nice taper. after you squeeze the pie shaped cut shut. weld the stanchion back together. you can use the cut out pie piece for the filler rod, and the color of the stainless will match.
