[IMG]droplord has a sweet chop, but mine isn't for comfort. It just had to be radical.

I really like the look of yours, I would talk the owner into rounding that back door jamb though, that is the only thing that looks skipped over..

why even bother having the rear door open it would look better welded up. when the 4 doors are chopped you can kinda get away with the shorter front doors. doesnt look as good as a normal length door but better than what you got i think

I think the beltline will mold it all together pretty good. I'm pretty jazzed about how its coming along.

surprising u still have the beltline goood job! but still its a pretty bad chop, im not mad that u ruined a perfectly good car; for god sakes it was a 49 - 50 chev 4 door.... i seen worse, but still its reallly bad. i guess some people are more into shock value then actual good looks, look at the pic that lunatic has in his avatar... no wonder why he suppports this car. hahah way over chopped dude

If this is the way you feel, then good job. At least you're only ruining a 4 door and not a 2 door. Sorry, but restraint is one of the essential elements of customizing. Execution is another big one, and you failed at both. For all the work you threw into this more-door, you could have turned it into a 2 door with a good set of doors, a donor roof, a negligible amount of added work and a cohesive plan to start. Then you could have had a well executed, timeless, traditional custom as opposed to a rat custom.

Heidi Klum and Rosie O'Donnell would both get noticed in a crowded bar, but which one do you want to take home?

Not a fan of 4-doors, but that's *****en! and right! You have to keep that long roof line as stock and bring up the rear window.

    Good Luck!

Now it is a true 2 door and I like it much better that way! Not welded back doors!

    Your chop is crazy indeed....

I agree. Great work so far but the back door and window need some work. It looks really harsh and I could only imagine what it looks like open. I think it would be a lot of work to try to fix it but if you could you should line up the window frame with the door. If you cant do that please please shave the handles it will help alot and you wont notice it as much. Good work thought keep it up.

I'm sorry, but I don't like anything about this car. The rear door/window situation looks wrong (looks like the "easier" way out) and the rear gl*** is laid way to flat. That is certainly no easy job, but I think this one should have been left stock. Just me opion.

It's about learning from your mistakes man, remember it's only metal, you can fix it to make the back part of the back door look better... other than that it looks okay.. when i first chopped my 4 door it did it blind, it did not come out as i hoped, but all i did was cut it up and redo it.. I like it much better now... look at the before and after pics...

It's not really my flavor, but if the customer is happy, what else can you ask for, right?

well said!! this person wanted to create what he thought was a jaw dropped. well he he did that, but all for the wrong reasons. nobody is going to stop and go " wow that thing looks bad ***!" there gonna saw" wow somebody ****ed that car up!" people take to much out of cars. you really need to stop look at your car for a while( like a year or more) to see how the lines really flow.

ive had my chevy for 8 years now. ive always wanted to chop it,but i didnt want to **** it up in the process. i found a chop that i really like and talked with friends on how they think it was executed. also i listed to a good friend say" you need to start at the bottem of the car and work your way up to the top. that way you get the cars stance and any other mods or repairs done before you chop it.

lots of folks think they need to follow a fad and cut to much. thinking it looks good to **** up proportions of cars. ive heard guys at shows say. "chop it till your head hit the roof. then take 2 more inches out." i just look and think to myself" ****ing rookies."

well have fun with a RAT KUSTOM. cause that s what you created.

Lots of comments here by the builder to justify the job, "...the owner is happy...", "...time crunch...", "...it just had to be radical...", the comment early about wanting to be big and make a name for himself. All well and good, but nothing about the job makes it look good. Again, rolling the car outside, standing back and taking a look at it in the cold light of day with an ****ytical eye would have been a good idea. Of course, that's ***uming that the builder and owner cared about the aesthetic, not just having the car look as if it had been stepped on.

To me, there's just an awful lot wrong with the philosophy of this project. I wouldn't want my name on something I didn't like and wasn't proud of just because the customer was happy. This job is clearly a series of compromises, or rather, a series of unfortunate decisions. it doesn't make the car look better, nor does it say anything good about the builders eye and sense of style. It says alot, but nothing good.

[IMG]I went light on my 53 only 4 all the way around... I think mine looks great.. but this guy said go more radical than mine.. and maybe I did take the "easy way out" but I wanted to make sure I retained the drip rail. I've seen some ugly cars on here myself..even one of the people trying to tell me what's wrong with this 49 has a pretty harsh lookin car. But I respect it. I love the input..love it or hate it.. your still looking at it. and if it bothers this many people.. I hit the nail on the head. Omar I love your car. I watched all bajillion youtube videos on it before I chopped my 53.

Wow dude, you think "only 4 all around" is "light"?

That tells me you have questionable taste as far as customs go..

IMO, 4 is getting very close to the most anyone would want to take out of one of those cars..

I'm a fan of Voodoo Larry's work. there's a lot of cars I wouldn't even think of cutting up, but a rotted out 49 chevy four door isn't on that list.

A custom is a custom. If there was only one way to chop a top then someone would m*** produce them. OOPS! There are alot of fibergl*** copies of chopped cars running around, but that doesn't mean they are the only way to chop a car, just appealing to the m***es that have the spare bucks to buy one that has already been made. To have the imagination to build something different is a gift. To get as much feedback as this thread has generated should truly be flattering. I hope when I chop a 4 door soon, my first attempt, that the same response will occur. tnrotter
