Every 2-4 years I post something and I guess today is the day. Some of you guys remember Fab32 (Frank Burrell) I bought his deuce Tudor after he passed away in 2015. In 2020 I bought the ‘32 five window he’d owned since 1977. I built a new chassis for it and started driving it a little to work out the bugs. Then a buddy on the east coast offered to finish it, so I dropped it off and didn’t see it again for three years. He brought it back a year ago not finished. I made the decision to basically start over. The car needed a lot of work and it deserved to be done right. Colton Leigib, a super talented local hot rodder said he’d chop it and do some metal work it needed. He has a hammered five window and I knew he was the guy for the job. I stopped by yesterday and we cut off the roof then tacked it back on. It looked so good, I really wish Frank could see it. He owned the coupe for 38 years, wanted to chop it, but never pulled the trigger. No turning back now, we cut 5-5.5” out of it with a little wedge. It rules so hard just sitting there. I love it. I’m still driving Frank’s sedan. Hard to believe I’ve owned it for ten years now. In late 2021 Frank’s widow asked my wife and I if we’d be interested in buying the house, shop and property. We did, and it’s really great to now own my mentor’s home, shop, and both of his hot rods. None of which would’ve happened if it weren’t for the HAMB.
Lookin good. Just glad to see Frank’s name in a new thread, can’t wait to see it done. also, so awesome about the house!
Colton’s a remarkable talent, can’t recall his screen name here but always love to see him roll into an event with the coupe splashed in mud and making a racket
@colton leigib there we go thanks Clem ^ it’s not letting me tag him. Must be one of the glitches I never noticed before when Ryan talked about needing to work on the forum
Before I started building my '32 pickup Frank sent me a conversation and ask if I would be interested in doing some trading, he was interested in the pickup and I had mentioned in a thread that I would love to have a coupe, we talked about it but nothing transpired, but we did have a lot of conversations,. I regret I never got to meet Frank face to face, He was a good man and I made it a point to read all his threads. HRP
Well, for my sake I’m glad the deal didn’t happen, haha. After his passing his wife was really freaking out about money and asked me to sell it. I put it up for sale for a few days, then talked her down from the ledge and she told me to pull the ad. I’m so glad nobody bought it. Frank told me someone offered him a ton of money for it in the pre-Brookville days. Luckily he said no thanks.
