Huh? If you take more from the A pillar you have less slope. Don´t know what you mean.

Sorry I was on the phone while typing that, I mean more severe chop but less slope. SO more out of the A so it doesnt have that slope.

    Sorry for the confusion!

Oh, I get you. More chop but with a normal - non Plymouth looking - C pillar.

The more I look at it the more I am thinking the rear quarter window is what is making the slopped chop look weird. I wonder if there would be a way to chop the car, keeping all the windows straight across and make the slope more in the roof itself. Does that make since?

So pretty much removing some of the metal from the rain gutters up

That would be a SAM Foose style chop.
He was doing them when Chip was in grade school.

If you have Tex Smith's How to chop tops book, there's one, a '40 Ford, on page 102-105.
If you don't have the book, get it!

That sounds about right. I remember seeing one of these with a Viper motor in it and I think mercedes headlights...it was green..not real Hamb friendly. But it the price of the gl*** chop is that expensive. It might be the thing to do. So how much for a gl*** chop?

    Hey,

Another idea, albeit a dumb one, perhaps, would be to sink the front light.
If the cost of cutting the front gl*** becomes a deal breaker, this could be a way out. This would allow many chop options from a semi oem to a Sam Foose/comp style to a rockasilly version.
Probably abit of a reach for a guy's first chop, but with some help, most doable.

What is a ballpark you think for the front gl*** to be cut? Anyone?

I don't think it is the cost of the cutting that adds up. It's the cost of buying 3 or 4 windshields themselves that adds up. Seems most people end up finally getting one that doesn't crack after the 3 or 4th one. Specifically not cracking after the car has been on the road a couple hundred miles. You have to let the window frame flex a little and without putting pressure on the gl***.

pimpin paint is right, alot of people sink the windshield into the cowl. The ******** purists go for the cut gl*** but it's not easy. Oh yeah, they also never follow too close behind trucks either on the freeway (rocks).

    Version 2.5...

Raked and slightly sunken screen. Good news is that you don´t have to chop the screen. Bad news is that you have to cut through the roof more often, as apart from having to cut it to soften the bend above the screen, the roof is now going to be too long and will need to be shortened, and as far as I can tell, you can´t do it at the back, because you will lose the curved part. More work needed in the window frames for the doors too. Does look pretty good though. Reduced the C pillar reverse section too.

I like V-2.5 best myself! Does anyone in DFW area know a ball park price to cut curved gl***?

Kevin, are we looking at May/June for the chop? It gets a bit HOT in July...
