every 6 months or so I go on a tangent and start drooling over early 50's nash rambler wagons as a project for the wife. If I could find a solid project for cheap I would have to pick one up no matter what the wife thought of them!

I believe the two I posted were 50-52's and the one you posted is a 53. they took off the cowl vent and the fender vents and changed the grill in 53.

That B&W pic just proves that women are wild about Nash wagons! Great photo.

"There was a very cool mild custom gold 57 Nomad in Hot Rod mag back in the early 60's. It was evidently well known on the show circuit, but was the guy's daily and racer too. It was lowered as much as was reasonable to drive at the time, nothing like today's bagged/slammed rides, and I think it had either Americans or chrome steelies on it. Very nice car. I'm not sure of this, but I think the article was titled "Reacher."

    Devin"

Might be Sam Hollingsworth's Nomad you're thinking of. It's being restored to the way it was for the GNRS coming up. Jim @ Socal Speed Shop LA knows/has all the details. Jim is unfortunately not on the HAMB anymore. Beautiful car! It's kind of a rusty / tangerine orange with gold flames and chrome Buick spokes... Revell produced a 1/25 scale model of it back in the day.

    Beautiful car.

..and digging through my Photobucket account, I saw a picture of this chopped '57 Plymouth wagon. I'm sure some other folks have more/better pics of it. It is pretty insane. A recent build and it hails from SoCal.

    Gotgas: Finally! Now we're talking!
I made contact today with the Hollingsworth Nomad. Thanks for the heads-up, T-roy! Haven't seen it in many years and it brought back lots of memories...

But now I'll be obsessed with finding that Mopar custom in SoCal! This is exactly what I had in mind when I started this thread. Who knows the owner, or has some info on it???
I'll pay up to a $10,000 finders fee! Of course, that'll be in IOU's, but they're really nice IOU's...
    Thanks in advance, guys.

Well the search feature isn't letting me go back past July for some reason. But it was in the Cars For Sale forum not quite a year ago. There were also 1-2 threads on the main forum about it.

And I'll meet you in the middle, $15k will suffice. :D

I can't find any more finished pics, but for some reason I have some build pics on this laptop. I bet the new owner doesn't even have these. :D

How about some wagon storys, I've owned 18 used wags over my now 67 years of life, never two the same nor any new ones.,just love wags!
A few that come to mind; One newyears party my Dad was showing off to some at our party by putting firecrackers under a can to shoot it up in the air,but he did this on the big flat roof of my Merc wag[had body lines molded in it's roof for rack] he blow a hole in it and the head liner out too ,right were the fold was in one of the lines, but the can did go pretty far up.
Had a Rambler wag that I never could fine were the spair tire goes or was,so took it to an AMC dealer and asked, well none of the new salesmen know or could fine were ether,so one want in to find old Hanry, who had been selling Rambler for 25 years+,he come out with big smile on his face and pulls up the back seat and points at a little tiny brackit and a wingnut, said that was too hold a patchkit[like bikes had],that was it no spair ever, was not design for one:eek:.
Many more storys ,but ya gets the idea.
Anyway that's how it goes when ya love wags.:D

Wow! The magic of the HAMB again! You guys are amazing! Thanks Unique. If it belongs to an auction, fat chance of getting any decent pix or info - but that won't stop me from trying. And one bit of info usually leads to more.
Besides, this time - it's personal.....

I loath all things GM, but have to say, Spity's hardtop Chevy wagon is a very nice piece of work! Congradulations on a great custom! Also like BBM's Chrysler wagon!

Wow. You guys sure build some nice stuff. This project just might inspire me to finally get to work on my daily driver (O/T '80 Malibu wagon) and let it live up to some of it's potential.

Gotgas: Okay, I owe you $15,000. There's another $15K in it for you, if you produce contact info on that chopped blue '57 Plymouth wagon on Supremes!

I sent an e-mail to the storage place in Maine today, but no reply. Maybe Monday...
Anyone else know anything about this car (it's on page 7, I think)???
