That's what I was thinking. Holy***** they screwed that up. It doesn't look like they put any plating on it at all, but did manage to make it much worse, if it is your grill. A lot of our first time customers will give us small, relativley inexpensive items to get done first, then after that, send the rare, expensive items. Having someone you trust to refer a place to you is very good too. I have had customers come in with abortions like that grill that they finally got back form some other shop, after many months or even over a year. The parts usually require more work than if they had just been left alone. I wrote up an article about basic chroming knowledge on this site when I first joined. I'll see if I can find the link. edit: Here it is: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324748
There ya go...problem solved! Take it back to her. I know it slows me down but I usually read all the replies before I offer advice. He said she skipped town. Maybe in AZ now.
Name and shame man, don't just say "she" did this or that. Crooks can only be stopped if everyone knows who they are. At least they actually had a plating shop, there is a Chromeplate about 100 yards from me who out sources all his work (plating polishing, the lot) with zero guarrentee of quality and yet he gets plenty of work.
Man that is scary, finding a good chrome shop is a scary thing. There is only one place I will take my chrome goodies, great work, easy to deal with, and lots of integrity.
Something wrong with this thread. If he doesn't say who the plater was then this whole thing is bull*****.
You think those are expensive, wait til you get the bill to dispose of that stuff or the fines from the EPA for spilling it.
