Hi for all! Friend asks for this part from Caddilac 57/58 eldorado rear number plate! Maybe someone have some offer?
You really do get what you pay for in plating. Advance Plating did the steering arm on my 27 over 25 years ago and it was $100 at that time, I thought it was high, so I found a guy in Opa Locka Florida who did a whole bunch of stuff for $300. Today the steering arm looks like the day I got it back, and the rest of the chrome has been redone. After a few years, the copper plating started coming through on my roll bar, and other pieces didn't hold up either. So I now use Gulf Coast Plating in Lauderdale, and their work is top notch. I paid $300 for the roll bar redo, but it still looks great after 6 years or so. Don
My stepfather always used to tell me, "it only costs a little more to go first class," and every time I tried to save a buck I found out he was right!
Just dropped them off today. He had no issues with redoing them and apologized again. I will update when I get them back.
I was watching Bitchin rides on Velocity and it showed them taking a truck full of stuff to TJ for chrome I been there many a time when I lived in LA but never thought of chrome plating in Tiajuna anyone tried this?
We used to go to Canada here in Detroit during the 80's. Our dollar was pretty high and was before all the tax crap. Guys would drive over, take parts off, drive over, put em back on...this was also when it was pretty easy to cross the borders

Ive played around with one of the caswell set ups. The copper and nickel went well, but i had trouble with burning the edges of a part when putting on the chrome. I put the chrome kit away over 10 years ago, but have just started revisiting it just last week. What i really need is a good tutorial on polishing. Any suggestions??
Ohh, polishing is baby tears. If part is OK, no damages, holes, rust pits, than replate this part is much easyer. 1. in reverse bath take off old layer of chrome and nickel 2. sand old copper off, or remove it in other reverse bath 3. sand base metal to P240-400 4. copper layer 5. sand copper to P1000 6. polish. I use Pferd pink paste for copper. 7.degreser 8. nickel 9. chrome U have burning because amps too much. make less and will be ok. In tutorial - there is easy with this bumper Fun starts with old american or USSR car bumpers, where is only word "bumper" left. There is not any tutorials.., because each bumper is different Ok, no empty words There is Jaguar XK 140 potmetal grill.
Can you explain this process? Do you need the copper down first so the solder will stick? What kind of solder/flux is used?
hi guys- there is result. sorry for so late- busy This business -secrets, secrets.... ok some from process more
Probably because there is not much to see. The back of most pieces isn't finished prior to plating so its just a rough silverish colour.
What part of Pferd pink paste did you not understand ?? https://www.pferdusa.com/products/204t/204t03P.html Beautiful pictures, nice work.
Picked it up yesterday. I called in the morning to see if it was done as I was heading down for the day and it wasn't but he said he would make sure it was ready for me to pick up in the afternoon and it was. Looks much better than the first time. This is not show chrome, they do do it but I didn't really get a chance to talk to the guy about pricing (not that I think I want to). I was in a hurry and he had a couple of other customers waiting so I check my stuff over and left. Not a great picture but it turned out nice. I had this and the handle for my emergency brake done for $400. This is definitely not show quality but for me I doubt I would find the difference I would have to pay for show quality worth it. I would also be hesitant to ship anything to get chromed unless it was a substantial savings in price. The experience certainly wasn't perfect but I do think Alberta Plating handled the issues well.
