I love thread! bringing back to the top again.
this little link for newer or O/T rims is great too.

I plan on reversing these & having them chromed (if I can find some one?) or maybe ever powder coating them. the future front slope is awesome. I really didn't see any with inner clips I'm putting them on my 53 F100.
They are marked. (they were on a 48-49 Chrysler)

One of my favorite combinations was chrome deepdish wheels with Cal Custom "BlackJack" hubcaps. Cheap n' Simple...

I don't recall BlackJack hubcaps. Do you have a picture?

  11. YES! That one! NOT the red one with the clear plastic hood!

I wonder if the white one was a previous incarnation of the red "Grease Lightning". The red version is in the vault at the Petersen, and it's ridiculous. "Grease" was supposedly about the youth of the '50s, but I was a youth in the '50s, and I never saw anything that looked remotely like that POS. I think it was purely a figment of George's imagination.

My 55 sunliner is getting them when I buy new tires in the spring.

  19. I had a mad love affair for the older Buick rims. I had these done sometime around 1962.

Those will look bad-ass on that truck.

  25. Well, this thread seals the deal. I am going to sell my Salt Flats on my Desoto when it comes back from the interior shop and get a set of chrome wheels and wide whites (2nd pic photo-shopped to show how it will look).

What are most of you guys doing with wheel weights...is it acceptable to put them on the rear of the wheel for a cleaner look and preserving the chrome?

You have a couple options. What I usually do is called a "static balance" which means weights only on the back side, it's actually a setting on most modern tire balancers.

Second are "balancing beads" which is a product that goes inside the tire and instantly balances the tires by centrifical force. I've never used those but I've heard great things about them.

I HATE looking at balancing weights pounded onto the front of a wheel. Looks sloppy, and I personally have never had an issue with static balancing.
