I'm trying to go a 60s style look I have the chrome reverse rims and I'm wondering what size narrow white would fit right on a 56 Chevy it was recently painted a cool vanilla color any suggestions
Yea looked at that thread but everyone seems to have wide whites, I'm wondering what they use as a early 60s custom what size white wall
Depends on the look. If its a mid to late 60's "street machine" -327 4 speed, tilt front, fenderwell headers, etc I would say blackwalls, but if it is a custom car-lowered smallblock auto, metalflake paint, etc it would look period correct to about 1963-64 with 1" or skinny whitewalls for sure.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us Not a 56 but I'm with you on the narrow whites! I remember lots of narrow whites in my high school parking lot (class of 66) When I bought this car I found out the P/O had mounted these Coopers black out, and the white still had the blue on them! Spent an hour or so turning whites out and re balancing. They aren't white. They are kind of a creme color These are Cooper Trendsetter A/W. I like them. They ride good, quiet, don't seem to flatspot when the car sets for awhile.
That's a great look and the 15x7 wheels are just right for an early 60's street look. Blackwalls on 50's/60's cars didn't really come in until the late 60's early 70's and is actually more of a 70's look. I special ordered my 69 Cutlass S with blackwalls in late 68 picking it up the day after I got back from Viet Nam and the salesman argued with my dad when he had it ordered with blackwalls for me that it should have whitewalls. It had Chrome reverse rims on it the next day after I bought it with 76 miles on it when I put the rims on it.
