I just ordered some Wheel Vintique chrome reverse 15x10's through Summit Racing. I ordered a custom (minimum) backspace and they were around $115 a piece. Cool thing is Summit doesn't charge shipping, just that $8 fee.

a reversed wheel has the center put in so the back side of the wheel faces out. this gives more offset. they used to do it a lot on old ford wheels that were riveted together, chisel off the rivets, push the center out, flip it around and rivet or weld it back in.

I got mine from Early Wheel in Cali. Fast service, nice product. Mine are 5X5.5 bolt pattern with the early ford type centers, will take early ford centercaps. I ordered 2 15x5" with 2" backspacing and 2 15X6" with a 2" backspacing. $65 apiece plus shipping, I'm happy with them

I got mine from WHeel Vintique. My rear are custom offset so it cost a little more and you have to pay with a money order in advance.

    Front 15x5 (narrowist they offer) - non-reversed
    [IMG]

The rear are 15x6 with 2.25 back space - true reverse, but in backwards as Moriarity mentioned

More like a '40 style cap. Tires are old Goodyear 670-15 front and Denman L78-15 rear

  11. online catalog has them, but it only lists 2 sizes. You'd be better off going straight to Wheel Vintiques.

I dont recommend Stockton Wheel. I used to like them when I was lived in Sacramento and could pick up. But when they say "in Stock" they don't mean it.

Since what I needed was not in the Summit catalog, I called Wheel Vintiques directly. After hearing what they wanted to charge me, plus the shipping, it was way more than the Summit prices. The guy said I could do a custom order thru Summit. Saved me a bunch of $$.

I had a bad experience with my first set of chrome reverse that I got from Stockton Wheel. They made me a custom 15x14, and it took MONTHS to get. The front 15x4's I had to send back due to bad chrome.

If you have any stock wheels around from the 60s or earlier, look at the back side. See how the rim has a smooth taper to the drop instead of a step, that is what chrome reverse rims used to look like when they were truly reversed wheels. I did a few sets myself back when you could find rivited wheels laying around everywhere. I made one set with 56 Chevy centers and wider Buick rims. I ran them on the back my 59 cheby with 56 dogdish caps and trim rings, 25 years ago.

Coker has both 16" and 17" chrome smoothies. As for Stockton Wheel, I've only bought from them once with no problems. Maybe I got lucky.

  23. mine came from stockton. took awhile to get them, but at the time it was them or cheap smoothies. glad i waited. if i'm looking at the pictures and the link right, those $65. wheels are smoothies.

  24. I saw the same thing ,Regular chromies were $95, still better than the compitition.

Thanks for the timely input, guys.

I've been waiting to have a set of wheels made up and had looked into Stockton a long time ago. Based upon the opinions posted, I think I'll give Early Wheel a call and see if they will make what I need.

I need a set of 14" 4-lug wheels and can send them a set of wheels to start with if necessary. I need them reversed and chromed.

Ratster, I got my from Wheel Vintique. Took about 2 to 3 wks to get the special offet. Cost about $130 for the custom build, about 100 for standard.

  30. Wheelkid, Rally America, took about 2 weeks including shipping them cross country (I actually ordered them right after I posted earlier in this thread, they came yesterday)

15x5, 5 on 4-1/2, with the holes made big enough to fit over my Volare rotors snouts, 3" backspace. He said these were '49 Ford centers, they match the ones I had made for the back that had the tapered rim reversed.
