Hey guys! So I have this idea of putting a 66-67 chevelle 4 speed shifter hump in out 56 chevy, and was wondering if anyone has done this or something similar and if the curves are close enough that this could work? I am in the process of going from an automatic to a muncie, and the interior of the car is black with black carpet, black 64 impala buckets with the chrome bar around them. So I thought the chrome hump would be cool. Any thoughts?
There are quite a few humps being reproduced, Chevy, Ford, Mopar, etc. I'm guessing there will need to be some mods regardless which one is used. Some visual inspiration Here: https://www.google.com/search?clien...HemuFmMQtKgLegQIFxAB&biw=1280&bih=800&dpr=1.5
Ya, that's true. But the 66-67 chevelle one is chrome and goes on the TOP of the carpet where you can see it. That's why I'm looking at that one.
Not to be a *****, but you might get more replies if you asked about a shifter console rather than a hump. Typically a hump is referred to when talking about the floor of the car.
The one @Johnny Gee posted won't fit the floor, 66 -67 Chevelle without console, I had one and tried it. What I ended up using is the hump from a 4 speed '72 Chevelle with a bench seat under the carpet and the proper trim & boot. Pic soon. Both are OT so this thread may get bumped over.
YES!!! The one Johnny gee posted is the one I'm talking about. It's chrome and is on top of the carpet, not under like most. And I will not be using a counsel. Like I said earlier, I have impala buckets so nothing is in the way. Chevy57dude, did you try this same hump? Was it completely wrong???
Chrome Hump sounds like a good name for a garage band. I do think it would look nice, but these are usually welded in, you would have to set some nutzerts in the floor and use some polished hardware. I dig it.
