Hope this is right place to post a question. Never thought I'll be such a chromoholic! I'm located in Germantown Maryland and would like to locate a chrome shop to have some of my stuff dipped...Anyone know of a good place to go to? Roadrat
If you're not opposed to shipping or a slight drive, Richmond has a pretty good, pretty affordable shop. I recommend prepolishing if you want the best results, they're a little more oriented toward high volume. But if you send them stuff that's pretty well polished, it comes out great.
I suspect the EPA has effectively squashed platers in the local area. I live just west of the DC beltway and send my stuff to Advanced Plating in Nashville, TN: www.advancedplating.com Hope this helps.
I recently dodged a bullet. I took my parts to a chrome shop inside the beltway in early Sept. When I called in late Nov. the number was "temporarily" disconnected. I hung up and drove there right away. I spent a few hours parked in front of the store knowing there were people inside. A previous satisfied customer came up and was surprized to find the doors locked from inside. They eventually realized I wasn't going to leave without my parts. The parts were still in the same box. Never touched. I prepaid with a credit card. I KNOW! I KNOW! They had a good reputation for quality work and had been around a while. I was actually lucky I didn't have enough cash on me to cover the written estimate and used the credit card. It took some minor paper work but I got my money credited to my account. WHEW! The laborer that helped me find my parts claimed that they were going to relocate to northern Va. The owners car was in the lot but never showed his face. Be leary of any new northern Va. chrome shops. I understand All American Chrome in Baltimore hired his polishers. They sound like good people on the phone but I have no personal knowledge of their work.
