Bernalillo Co. has some pretty strict EPA-type laws from what I've gathered so far....

Do you happen to know the name of this El Paso chrome shop? I have been looking around and have had a hard time locating a local shop. I have a rear bumper that needs to be rechromed and would much rather have it done locally.

    thanks

How long ago was that? Was the shop called Duke City Plating? Cuz that place ain't there anymore.

I hear a lot about the El Paso shop too and I don't know the name of it either...

Mismanagement and "bad habits" burnt a lot of good people. I guess he has been shut down for about a year.

Royal or Ideal in Tucson do good work. I wouldn't use Nu-Chrome though.

McDonough isnt so bad, where are you located?

  16. I asked the same question on a local jeep board, and one of the guys works for a 4x shop that sends theirs out. At least there's a local contact, but the shop still isn't local. Sounds like they do good work from the other guys on that board though. Let me know if you want me to track down that name again.

Thanks to the EPA there are very few chrome shops left in the US. I'm sure the place in El Paso runs their stuff across the river to get it plated. There are still plenty of craftsman left down there.

Electoplating in El Paso is who I'm using, been real happy with their work, turn around time and price. Even if Duke City was still around you would be better off going out of town, we haven't had good chrome here since the 80's.

They fixed up a hood ornament for me, I think they did a great job in a couple of weeks.

It was one of those real wide ornaments for a 41 Ford Comercial, it was pretty pitted, but it came out really, really nice.

From what I understand, they do their plating on THIS Side of the border, but I sent the piece to El Paso, didn't go there myself.

If you NM guys want to trust me I can get the stuff to and from the plater, I will be happy to help if needed.

I haven't used them for chroming, but Kaehr Co. aka The Paint Shop on Candelaria does plating, specialty painting, and powder coating; http://kaehr.com/

Just had a bumper p/c'd there, they do excellent work and reasonable. Ron is the owner, he is easy to work with.

there was a plater at the GNRS set-up, very nice people i think they were out of Texas, but lost their business card, anyone remember who they were? gave me a price on bumpers and turn around time , which was the best i have gotten so far.

BTW, if you need a bumper straightened in ABQ, Collins Collision just did my F-1's front bumper (VERY heavy steel) very nicely and very reasonably. Sandblasted it too. Did it in a day! They are off Edith on Industrial.

Kaehr does not do chroming, just industrial type plating such as zinc and what not.I agree with you,Ron is excellent to work with, great price on the hight level work on the powder coating.
