I see that So Cal sells a chromed Model A rear spring but does anyone else make them? Any sellers out there besides So Cal? Thanks.
posie sells one without buttons and with tapered ends ..looks like an old Ford spring..but you have to ask for it on the phone
As a side issue down here we can't run chromed springs due to hydrogen embritlement issues associated with chrome plating. In high stress areas, eg tailshafts (aka Jag IRS) failure can be instant and without warning. However if component or spring is heat treated within 2hrs of chroming and you have a certificate, you have no issues.
Yeah.... that'll do it!! Good chrome (not chinese) is so expensive now, I just got a couple of brand new radiator stay rods chromed by a very reputable shop and that was $175NZ (about $155US). Near fell off my chair.
Just a repro bare spring costs about $250 from this place: http://www.a-springs.com/index.html You really think any chrome shop would chrome all those leaves for cheaper than $240? I think $489 sounds like a good deal.
