On another thread, a guy was lamenting that he could not find a real tree, and decided to build one himself. It prompted me to thinking.... I have long wondered what the reasoning was for changing from the old 5 amber tree format to the current 3 light tree. Does anyone know? My short drag racing career was in 68-69, with the old 5 light tree, which I liked much better.
I don't know when they went to a 3 yellow tree but as to why, I'd have to say that it's because most of us now run a pro-tree. So there's no need for the additional bulbs.
Yep. I actually was talking to someone infinately more important than myself in the later '70s or early '80s who was saying that everyone should get used to a pro tree because that was all there was going to be in the next 10 years. It never happened but I am sure that originally the switch was going to be a transition.
I never look at anything but the last bulb anyway. I just wish more tracks would convert to the LED's.
I could be the amount of time setting waiting on the extra two lamps, you can really heat up a trans in a hurry with enough power. Joe
