So my buddy (jimmygrrr) called me up a couple months ago and told me that his boss had a 1955 chrysler that he would give us to fix up as a club projest. He said it had the poly motor in it and we could put hemi heads on it. So i called a tow truck and put it at my work. Then didnt think much about this slightly rust car that was full of all the parts but no glass. Now last week jimmy tells me that his boss has a set of 331 heads to go on the motor and we can just have them. I say "cool" and we head out there on a saterday morning. He couldnt have been more nice. After we loaded up the heads, he pointed us to his scrap pile. So we loaded that up. Then he showed us his projects both 1955 chryslers and this really cool '50's boat. We start talking about the 55 he gave us. He then tells us that theres glass in another parts car and do we want these two parts cars. So i call the tow truck again. Now here we are, two new yorkers and c 300. The guys just wants to see us build a car out of it, i dont know if he'll see it. But hell ya we're gunna build a 55 chrysler 300.
The yellow car is fairly straight and looks like it was took apart painted then never put back together. It has the poly motor in it.
The '55 Chrysler 300 does not have a letter from the factory. The '56 was the B and the '57 the 300 C. Many people call the '55 a "pre-B". Strange but descriptive. Nice score.
That automatic looks like it has the pushbutton cable installed and certainly doesn't look like a Powerflite. I think you got a cast iron torqueflite. Might check it out.
he knew it was a 300, just a nice guy I guess. He has one already and a wagon he is restoring. told me he had too many projects to finish and he would give them to us if we promised to build them rather than just sell off all his parts. he even bought the whole shop BBQ today!! thanks for pulling them over to the house James. cant wait to build it!!!
------------------------------ Yep. The "C" prefix on the '55 C300 simply stood for "Chrysler". The "300B" (1956) and "300C" (1957) were the the 2nd and 3rd editions of the continuing Chrysler "300" model line. Mart3406 ------------------------ P.S. - If anybody out there wants to give me a '58 '300D' with a complete and working, 'beyond super-ultra-rare' Bendix fuel-injection set-up for free....don't worry about having to ask twice...I'll take it!!!! ===========================
