I read an article in a hot rod magazine years ago where a machine shop cut off the extended bell then welded the "normal" 55-58 hemi trans pattern to the modified block. You really do not need to cut it off to adapt a later trans to the extended bell engines. Wilcap actually offers an adapter kit to put a 727 or a 904 AUTOMATIC trans behind the long bells without modifying the engine! Basicly you cut the bell off the ****** and bolt their adapter to the front pump along with using other parts from the kit. If you are using a standard trans, then their are many people that offer kits. Wilcap and Hot Hemi Heads offer the standard trans adapters. www.hothemiheads.com www.wilcap.com Good Luck! Al
