I'm going to be putting a bigger alternator in my truck, as well as an isolator and a second battery. I need the extra power to help with my airbag compressors. I can't drive at night with my lights on when the compressors kick on. They get so dim they look like they aren't even on. In the install instructions, it says to put a circuit breaker inline between the second pole on the isolator and the auxilary battery (positive pole). My question is will a circuit breaker for high output car stereos work for this, or do I need to get one from an auto parts store or maybe an RV dealer? My isolator is 160 amp unit, and they recommend a 120 amp circuit breaker. Also, I'm going to be running at least a 120 amp alternator. Any help, as always, is appreciated! E
goddamn! you sure there ain't something wrong? even in my days of many thousands of watts of car stereo, i never ran more than a single battery, high output alternator, and a couple of 1 farad caps. what do those compressors pull, 25 amps or so each? how about wiring one with an override, so during daylight/messing arount time, both compressors kick on, and at night when your lights are on, only one does the work. i'm loving my engine driven compressor!
Yep, those compressors really pull the juice. I never had problems like this when I was into crazy stereo systems, too. The problem with only using one is that the compressor stays on for such a long time. With two, it pulls alot of power, but for less duration. Ray, you going to Paint and Primer in a few weeks? I'd like to talk to you about your engine driven compressor. This is what I really want to do, but nobody around here seems to know what I'm talking about. E
