Clampless Radiator hose

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by MISFIT 1, Oct 10, 2011.

  1. I have removed many of them without hurting the hose - destroy the clamp, Yes (by design) but NOT the hose.

They are much cleaner looking and in many cases actually seal better than a clamp

They are easy to cut off without hurting the hose, just a razor blade and a bit of caution.

Why a Lathe to cut a soft plastic? I just used a pair of scissors to cut them down when I needed a narrow one.

Yeesh, I'm only 38.........just think of the adjectives you'll need to describe me in 10 years. ;) :D

  3. I am already working on them, if I don't make it that long you'll need to look in my will. ;)

Hell I guess what I do could be considered just as bad, I don't use the old wire clamps very often I use the screw clamps. I suppose iof smooth is what you are after and a clamp is too awful ugly the toher thing is a good way to go. As far as sealing better than with a clamp I have found that if your hose is the correct size they seal just fine with a clamp again maybe it isn't as purdy.

Gates 91215 is the number for the removal tool.....Rockauto has them for 26 bucks. It works pretty good but a carefull run with a a razor blade will do the trick.
