I've seen exactly one of these V8 aircleaners in my lifetime and it was on a nicely rodded 36 but for the life of me I cannot find out if they (or at least the aluminum extrude) is available anywhere at any price. Would love the V8 screen for my AV8. Anybody got any leeds? HeLp! .
It took me a few years to find a matched set. I paid too much for the red one but it made the pair. Not stupid money but more than a standard 2bbl aircleaner. Years ago I passed on a pair of the 2bbl variety. I went back an hour later and they were sold. I always thought that they were cool when they were new. Apparently not too many other people did. They are very scarce. I actually found the 4bbl V8 ring without the aircleaner. The vendor thought it was a 57 Chevy I had the aircleaner at home. The last time we talked about these, someone said that the V8 screen could be duplicated easily with some kind of computer controlled machine but I never heard anymore. Selfishly I hope the don't repop them.
I could have gotten one off, ironically, a flathead six in a '47 Studebaker truck a friend of a friend was parting. Time I got around to it, the whole she-bang was gone. I should have nabbed it when I saw it.
