So I got a call in the summer about an upholstery job on a 37 packard coupe, I went and looked at it. Gave an estimate and got the job about 2 months ago they dropped it off and I have been working on it hard since. I finally finished it yesterday. The customer wanted a original style interior but in leather. To my surprise when the car was dropped off I learned how rare the car was. It is one of fourteen, and that the owner swayed from restoration and decided to resto-rod it and keep the looks of it stock but update the drive train. It has a big block chevy engine silverado sub-frame and a 9 inch rear. He told me that a few restoration guys are pretty upset with him for not restoring it, he laughed. Enjoy the pics, I can't wait to see it all together. It would have never fit in my garage if it was all together, it's HUGE. I have been told that it is supose to be at GSTA's car show March 27th and 28th 2010. Jennie
very nice..........but i would say that as im a bit biased when it comes to packards. stuff the purests, hot rod em all! nice upholstery job.
If you like you can use one of my patented lines when the owner comes to pick it up. "Now for the easy part, paying the bill"
So Cl***y: Upholstered Glovebox door. Rumble seat arm rests. Makes my '38 Chrysler seem positively Spartan!
I love the look of that car, and the interior looks awesome. I also like how the BBC was painted in a similar color to an old Packard engine.
Here is a photo of my Grandpa and Grandma and my aunt in the rumble seat in Grandpa's 12 cylinder Packard coupe. I have the ***le but not the car.
Hi Jennie , Nice car ...but youve done a great job on the interior work , the owner should be very happy with the effort you have put into it , little details like the throw over flaps in the rumble area , which are rarely seen now . White colored leathers are not the easiest to work with , we have an upholsterer in the family and have seen him attempting tearing his hair out numerous times . As Moriarity says ...good luck with your reward ....payment cheers Steve in Oz
