Looking for something that will cut the Krusty residue out of the bowl area of a carburetor. Sometimes Carb cleaner just doesn't quit cut it. I was thinking maybe muriatic acid or vinegar.
are you soaking it in a bucket of carbcleaner ? the spray cans usually wont cut it. i soak it in the bucket of carb cleaner take it out and scrub with a wire brush and re soak.
I used some lime/rust disolver bathroom cleaner to remove some of the deposits on the brass tubes and float bowls that wouldn't clean with carb cleaner or lacquer thinner. It worked slick on the scale and didn't hurt the parts. I sprayed some in the bowl and in a small cup and soaked the pieces for about 5 minutes, then rinsed with water and used compressed air to blow them dry. overspray
Acids cuts the white crusties, but have to be used very conservatively as they also efficiently remove zinc. I have used fairly strong ones, like toilet bowl cleaner with HCL on the warning label, by simply putting a puddle in the bowl and then flushing with hot water after a couple of minutes, Inspect, repeat until all is under control. Do not wander off and fotrget... Vinegar is milder and slower, and has the advantage that you can work with it closely scrubbing and poking without worrying about losing body parts in the soup. Again, do not use it too long. carbs often contain corrosion/deposited crud that must be dissoved chemically, crud of petroleum origin that needs solvents, and simple dirt that ignores other routes and requires detergent to move out.
