About 40 years ago, I had a 2 gallon can of the Gunk HydroSeal carb cleaner ( the big one with the basket) in my ba*****t and it ate right through the metal can!

Crown PCS 1000 in a 20 gallon HF parts cleaner

The other 20 gallon parts cleaner has Simple Green HD ... it said on the container aluminum safe
Soaked some junk aluminum and steel stuff in it for 4 or 5 days
Removed most of the paint and grease

My Simple Green HD is a few years old so dont know if they changed the formula

Check with your ZEP dealer for 'A-One' cleaner. Good stuff, water based, friendly to hands.

  5. The old oily paint thinner has been banned in our area and I believe so is the old Kerosene. I've heard of people getting it from Arizona if they have friends going back and fourth..........wink.

We use Castrol Techniclean MP Flex at work.
I have only tried it a few times on my car stuff.
Fairly expensive (like a touch over $200/5gals)but did a nice job mixed at 10% with water on a 4 hour soak.

I have a 5 gallon pail of NAPA carb cleaner around 4 years old ( was $63.00 )
Cleaned a trio of nasty 406 carbs for a friend
Corrosion had eaten into some of the parts

Tried Berrymans but it did not clean well and stunk to high heck got days
