I've got a transmission off a 42 Ford Flathead I'm looking to tear down and attempt to rebuild for the sake of education. This will be my first ****** I've done more than just remove the pan on so I'm looking for a guide or some detailed drawing as a reference. I did a search here to no avail so if anyone has any links or anything that would help shoot em my way. Also what does it take to change one of these to open drive? I've got an open drive tailshaft what other parts do I need? Hopefully I can get this done and cleaned up/ working again so I can put it behind my flathead and not go the T5 route :)

Not much. I think its just that the forks are on the side. The gears from each interchange.

  6. I bought Mac Van Pelt's book some time back. It's priceless for I.D. and interchange. He covers very well, side loader as well as open drive parts. Well worth the price and is in Basic English for those of us that Know but arn't Sure. You'd do well to add it to your Library.
