    Question for ya'll.....
Got a 63 Ford Fairlane with a 67 289 small block v-8. I'm gonna pull the engine/****** for a rebuild and while its out I like to cleanup the engine bay a bit.
Question is: I have an external silenoid and voltage regulator. Was wondering the best way to eliminate these. Can I convert to a starter with a built in silenoid? How to run the wiring? Just seems to be a rats nest of wiring and I would really like to smooth it out abit.

You could go to a one wire alternator that doesn't need a separately mounted regulator, and possibly go to a mini starter that doesn't need the solenoid. Personally, I am not a fan of the mini starters as I haven't had the best of luck with them, but it would solve your clean up goals.

For wiring , the alternator just needs about a 10 gauge wire from the output to the positive battery terminal, and the starter would just have a regular battery cable to the big post and a smaller wire to the "starter" terminal on the ignition switch.

I had a Nova, ran all the wiring inside the fenders. Cleaned it up nice.
