Hi guys need some advice I am in the middle of fitting a F1 steering box into my 33 coupe
I have rebuilt the box and welded a flange as per the Vern Tardel (let me help you book)
All went reasonable well, cut the column to length had a key way cut to fit a 40 steering wheel, also made a 1 1/4 steering drop spacer.
Now this is where it has gotten ugly.
I intended to run the factory pedal****embly but they fouled on the column so I have slightly bent the peddles to clear the clutch is great, brake not so great as it going to sit above the throttle pedal.
Do I need to run a different style of pedal box?
I was hoping to use these as I already have the master set up of the brake.
I was thinking smaller diameter pedals and kick the throttle over towards the drivers door as much as possible but space is very limited.
Has anyone run in to this before?
    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks Fnjunk

When you say you have welded a flange as per the Vern Tardel book, do you mean the flange from the stock 33 steering box?

I don't know about the F1 box but I did a 34 chassis a year ago that used Neals converted Hudson box in the stock location, cleared the stock pedals and allowed the use of the stock column drop.

Remember fellas, he has both his brake and gas on the "wrong" side of the column. Much less room than us Yanks are used to having.

Sorry, no solution to your predicament.

  5. Convert to left hand drive, like King Henry V8 intended.

Although I have my pedal****y firewall mounted I can say it's tight in there when using a manual trans.,,my accelerator is fairly close to the kick panel ,it takes a little getting used to and a little foot helps ,,mines not,,,,,,persevere and adjust your accelerator ,and your driving style ,,,it's good in mine as it scares off potential wanna drivers ,,

make some adapter plates to ofset the pedal pads away from the pedal mounting threads, isn't a lot of room in there ,have you got a foot rest for the gas pedal

Thanks guys yep right hand drive.
I've spaced the steering box about 5/16 in from the chassis rail which has given me a little more room also going to off set pedal pads like you suggested tub1.
Looks like I will just......get away with this..
Think I shoud have left the factory box as it would have been much easier.
38fordpickup this old girl was built as a right handed and that's how she'll stay, actually a bonus down here.
    Cheers
