I've seen several methods used to mount club plaques. Here is my take, in a simple photo tech piece.

First step was to "rough" level the plaque on a belt sander.

Next, I measured for mounting points and laid out the target location
    [IMG]

Using the data points in previous layout, I then counterbored the backside with an endmill in the "Bridgeport". Followed by turning some aluminum round stock to "plug" fit in the counterbore. While turning the stock I bored the bungs to the correct diameter for a 5/16 tap.

I then laid down some ****py, but sturdy tack welds.

    Followed by tapping said "bungs"

Prepped and shot a couple coats of primer.

    Then some color coats...

A trip back to the belt sander and "voila"

    The finished product

    The daily.

Leave it to you to make us all feel bad for drilling plain ol' holes in our plaques. What a bunch of **** bags we are hahaha!!!!!

Looks great dude! I actually haven't drilled holes in mine yet since I have been without a car for a year now but I might just steal that trick!

Nice work! Maybe O'Brien's should cast their plaque's with the bungs as part of the casting. Drill and tap, or grind them flat if un needed.

  15. Hey a drag plate is supposed to drag! :D

Yankin' your chain (or lack thereof). Great work, nicely done. That is impressive attention to detail.

I have a new plaque coming from the Goldchainers CC - You've got me thinking that two drill holes and an old toilet pull chain doesn't really cut it!

Holes and rusty bolts in the plaque are traditional!

    Nice work by the way....

For the package tray mount, weld a "flap" of aluminum on the bottom so you can stuff it down between the tray and back seat back.

Very technically sound way to get it done, I will definitely log this in the back of my brain for future reference. Nice job

I giggled a little when you said you tapped that bung.

I dig the tech and the daily... ruler. We need to talk soon about blower motor short blocks.

I JB welded two bolts to the back of my club plaque so it wouldnt need drilled or welded. So far it's held on just fine. JB weld it great!
