Is there anyone in the wny area who does backyard casting... Looking to have a club plaque made...already have the mold
Why not get in touch with fellow Hamber Dennis O'brien and let him make them for you. HRP http://www.obrientruckers.com/
I've looked into it.... Only need one or two.... They have a minimum..... But thanks.... I know guys do this kind of stuff at home.... Just don't know anyone
Hot rod magazine did an article on back yard casting a while back. if you only need a couple why not take a look at the article and set yourself up to do it? Just a thought.
Grider co. Makes plaques w no minimums I believe. Don't know if he has a website but he does have an IG
Youtube, search "king of random" he shows you how to make a simple forge, ingots and casting. And you might even see some other cool stuff as well.
Thanks again for the info... Was really looking for someone local who does this for fun ..... Don't mind spending coin, just wanted fast turnaround.... There's only a few cars in the club that would rock plaques
If your looking for someone local, ya might want to say where the heck you live . Unless your exercising your esp skills.
There was a thread here last week about doing a few at home, if you can't find anyone local. Get the guys around, drink a few beers, and start pouring.
I did it in high school...the right sand, some home made boxes, melt down some old Edelbrock intakes... All you need is a crucible. Bootleg Moon gas pedals, fuel blocks, finned valley covers. Some guys did some plaques, but they were cast from the originals...('Pasadena Pacers', 'Slo-Pokes', and 'Sinners' are some that were done) All you needed was the original, or a 'master' carved from wood. I did some of those...then... -Santa Clara High, 1957. Another guy was spinning Moon Discs! There was no justice... Oh, BTW: There was a club in this town ("Pharoahs") -sp. One guy had the plaque in his '56 Merc, I asked if it was a 'genie Grafitti item'. He said no, I had noticed the spelling was incorrect. ('Pharaohs' is correct) He showed me the plaque, it was cast in a plaster of Paris mold from a built-up balsa wood 'master'. Cast in FIBERGLAS! Painted...I never would have known, had I not held it. O.K. for the back window 'valance'...Cool, really. Did it himself. Letters were wood craft stuff from Wal Mart...raised portions were drawn and band sawn and glued onto the base. Outer perimeter was 1/8" X 3/8" balsa... Point being, this wood master could serve for sand and aluminum castings.
I actually found a guy who casts at home, he invited me down and we cast the plaques Saturday, thanks for all the help
