I'm looking for a club to join in the southeast Kansas area.
Are there any? What all clubs are active in the entire state?
Are there any Kansas members here that just get together and build or go to shows, races and shit that would welcome a new guy to hang with them?

See if you can find a copy of the "CARS Cruisin' Calendar '07" - it will have all the info about local clubs you can join.

If you can't find one try this link - carsmag@cox.net for more info.

What've you got under your right foot, anyway?

Right now my right foot leans on my 89 chevy shortbed truck for a daily, but i'm hard at work on my modified roadster build and used to roll in a 63 F100 that i'm putting back together again

  5. I can't really comment about the club I was in for about a week, knuckle busters KS, before it fell apart. Notice there was no kroozin the heartland show this year or maybe never again. I do know that the Missouri chapter of the club seems to be going strong, may be kind of a far drive for you though. I bet there's some closer.

Bone Head, let me know what it will take to become a member. Do I need to prospect? So far out of all my options you guys are the best and closest, the only other I have right now as far as an actual club is in Mulvane, the Marauders, and it's at least a 2hour 15 minute drive for me depending on traffic. I just miss hangin with my buddies and buildin cars when I was in college really. It would be cool to bring my shit up there and have someone to help and add their .02 cents and to be able to help with other builds, sometimes your own stuff gets kinda old ya know?

I'm located in the itty bitty town of Toronto stuck somewhere in between Eureka and Yates Center. The only thing we really have is Cross Timbers State Park or "Toronto Lake" if you like. Oh yeah, SEKCruisers is not really my scene they are more the muscle car crowd, or at least used to be that way.

You're closer to the Tulsa guys than anything.
And you have no excuse for missing the Hamb Drags in Joplin. Everyone would love to have such a badass event in their backyard.
I know there are a handful of guys up in Osawatomie, and another couple around Ottawa, and a handful around Emporia.
Then a whole pile around Ark City/Wellington. Shit man McPhail, Beatnik's ring a bell, from Wellington errr I mean Koolsville.
As for clubs??? No idea man, I'm a Stray Dog/Lone Wolf.

I plan on being at the HAMB drags in August, may even enter if all goes well, we'll see, they're not actually in Joplin itself but a little ways out in Asbury at Mokan Dragway. I know most of the guys in Emporia, helped a few build cars, lived there for 2 years and just moved in May. Aman, I'm abut 1hour maybe alittle more to your north. I am trying to join the Marauders out of Mulvane, just west of Wichita. Seem like they are a good group of guys and won't be falling apart anytime soon.

I'm in Overland Park, KS. Really haven't talked much online before. I have two pu's in pieces in the garage, 49 Ford PU and a 33 Ford PU roadster. The 33 should be finished by fall.

It sounds like there are several HAMBers in the KC area. I wouldn't mind getting together sometime, even if I don't have a running rod :) .

Thanks for that info raven 61, but i've joined up with the Mulvane MARAUDERS (notice avatar), they're alot closer to me even though most of the club consists of muscle cars or street rods, they have a good rep and could use a traditional car in the club once mine is finished.

Interesting thread from Kansas. I graduated from high school in 1972 from Independence Kansas. Used to have a cool street scene with decent street racing at night near the resavior (sp). We used to have a rivalry with Coffeyville and surrounding towns but mainly Coffeyville. I attended high school in the mornings in Independence and at lunch time I would drive 30 miles to Coffeyville for auto classes in the afternoon and then drive back. Met a lot of good folks in both places and just thought I'd see if any are still around.

I had a gray 55 chevy with a big block chevy in it that was a quick car. I friend of mine had a 55 Chevy with the original 265 they were identical. We would cruise in his 55 and drum up a race. Usually for about $20 bucks. After the race was set we would tell the opposition to meet us at the resovoir (sp) and then we would go get my 55. Man, you should have seen the looks on their faces after my burnout.:D :D Easy $20. Not bad considering premium gas was .33 cents a gallon. I still get a kick out of that. If anyone remembers those days, jump on here...I haven't been back since I went in the Army after high school and would love to here from those guys/gals.

I grew up in Independence and graduated in 1980, but my brother graduated in 1969 and was a member of the Street Fleet club. I also did the same thing in my senior year attending high school in the mornings and tech classes in the afternoons. I remember racing out by the lake since it had a nice straight stretch of road. Also did some 4 wheeling in the Lehunt area close to the lake. Lots of fun in Independence.
