Oh S@#$@%, tried to introduce myself by posting a reply to the "read this first thread". Too much coffee and not enough boost makes me a dull boy. Okay - so I'll try it again . . . here is my lame *** intro: I'm Dale from Columbus, OH - transplanted from Los Angeles about 7 years ago. Okay . . . I've got issues -- think about flatheads, early Hemis, hot-rods every damn day -- always have some new idea on my mind . . . some better way to do something, etc.. I must say, once I ran my first blown flatty, life has never been the same - can't get that uncorked sound outta my damn head. I'm a young 46 (so I say), my first car had a 59AB in it, so at 15 years old I tore my first one apart. Living in L.A. was great for a young hot-rodder who had lots of time, was willing to work hard, had some decent skills and really wanted to learn from the guys who had the knowledge and helped start this whole thing. Joe Reath took me under his wing . . . as did Don Smith, Uncle **** Stanley, T.Willy at Isky, Tom Hutchinson, Ed Isky, John Anthon (sp?) and countless others. My Mom and Pops really didn't work on cars, but they gave me all the encouragement and support I could ever want. At 16 I was racing at Irwindale (Antique Nats) -- with the whole family in the pits helping a snot nosed kid go up against guys 3 times his age. I got busy "in life" for almost 20 years and parked my old cars (didn't sell them - thanks Joe) and now I'm back into it. Since buying a place in Columbus, I finally have space and all my hot-rods & **** in one place (you know all the cans, boxes, containers of priceless things we can't part with). I decided to come over to the HAMB after chatting with FlatDog, Flat32 and some others --- you guys seem to be into all the same things I am. I'm sure I'll learn a bunch, hope to help a few and also want to participate with folks who want to experiment and try to go faster, make more HP and hopefully not blow up to many ******'s and rear ends in the process. (Can't bare the thought of hearing another Zephyr trans spit teeth like it was chewing a corn cob). Hopefully I'll fit into your clan . . . will do my best to participate, help others out and have some fun along the way. May your Potvin 425's spit and snarl, your Belond headers bark and your radiators not have "bubbles" (cause we all know that that means!). Dale
