Do you guys think some heat shielding would be enough to protect my clutch cable going between my headers? I can route it in front of the headers and under the motor mount, but its a longer distance and it puts a lot of stress at each end. I am not aware if there are any longer clutch cables available. This one is from a mustang.
Here is the other option I have. It may be hard to tell, but each end of the cable is slightly angled where it makes contact now because it is so much tighter.
It will get pretty hot going through there, you will need more than just a heat sheild, probably also need to wrap in is the wrap they use for headers or those heat socks they plumb the plug wires through so they don't melt on some of the older funny cars. But you will definitely need some sort of heat resistant material along with a heat shield. Just my 2 cents.
Summit has some good stuff. Most of it you have to slip over the cable, so it has to be un-attached. On my plug wires, I used an item from McMaster Carr.
Cool thanks for all the replies. I think I'm going to look into getting a custom cable made. If that's not possible I'll do some sort of shielding and see how long it lasts.
