Is there a difference between the 6 cylinder and V8 clutch linkage & brackets for 52-53 Ford p***enger car? Am going to switch from a 6 to an 8.
The only difference that I found in the parts catalog was that the clutch release lever on a 6 cylinder is 3" extreme width and the 8 cylinder is 3 1/8" extreme width. I would think they would still work.
Thanks car nut. Would that be the same for the bracket on the engine that the u arm connects to? Also, can you compare a 51 v8 radiator vs a 53 v8 part number?
I wish I could send you a picture othe parts from the catalog but I have trouble with all the tech stuff! But, the only thing in the parts that has any mention of 6 or 8 differences is the release lever. Everything else should enterchange. I've had my 53 with the 6 cyl. for 40 years now and I have all the manuals for it, so if you have any questions just ask.
So here are the major parts I found different in a 6 vs V8 in addition to what carnut pointed out: radiator, top radiator air deflector, firewall throttle linkage, bell housing and the starter front housing.
