    Men

    Am having real grief with rebuilt flathead and 3 speed in my 32 coupe.

    Pulled the engine again and the pressure plate is out of true with the cover plate, in other words it sits uneven and is about 3/8 inch below the cover plate flange (where the flywheel bolts go through) to level with the flange at the other side.

    I don't think it should do this!

    Anyone know the correct alignment position?

    Thanks

    The pressure plate is centered in the cover plate;

    Thanks I explained that badly what I meant was my plate sits like a flying saucer and not straight flat when you have the clutch out the car and turned through 90 degrees I.e. sitting on the garage floor.

    How far back should the pressure plate rest?

    fat boy, you are correct that there is something wrong. If you take a flat edge and place it across the cover flanges, the face of the plate should be an even distance in any index and measure a depth slightly less than the thickness of the clutch disc. If the plate is closer to the edge on one side or not square to the cover edge level, the pressure plate has been adjusted incorrectly or damaged. Is this a new MFG , or something just used and stuck in?

    Great thanks Dick.

    I think I might have messed up when taking the clutch out by loosening a finger bolt no idea why I did this.

    Am getting a new second hand clutch from Jim at royal kustoms over here, thanks again for your help.

    I have bough parts from you before, you have been very helpful.

    If you ever come to scotland look me up as am due you a beer!
