Hey guys- I'm shopping for a new clutch ***embly for my 54 with the 223/I6. Found a complete set up on carparts.com that seems like a fair price; but it's an 11" disc. Mine has a 9.5". The listing says it fits my application. Can I use an 11" clutch or should I just get what was in there before and avoid the h***le? Thanks- Roger. https://www.carparts.com/details/Fo...LzQeVpq-BiU0YTqrEtsLpYD6Roc86nE3uCMep9PLyxatc
Not familiar with the ford 6’s but other trucks used 11” clutches and the same brand cars with the same engines were smaller like your 9.5”. The 11” pressure plate usually had a larger diameter of 6 holes drilled on the flywheels. Aftermarket flywheels I’ve seen have both patterns. Best to make sure before purchasing.
9 1/2" kit https://shoebox-central.com/1949-19...-v8-6-cylinder-clutch-kit-disc-pressure-plate Same as 1954 223 Six clutches.
Thanks Jeff! I looked at this, but it said 49-53. The parts in the picture look exactly like mine, so if you say it's the same that's good enough for me.
Old Henry was very frugal and liked to use up parts till they were gone, the 1949-1959 Ford Parts Manual shows a lot of parts that interchange by part number.
Carpenters has them. https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/cars/transmission/clutch/8ba-7550-n-new-clutch-disk-95-in Scroll down to the bottom of this page and the pressure plate is listed too.
