Hello everyone I just finished making the clutch linkage in my modified Roadster and the clutch won't disengage. I can hold the pedal down and I can see that the pressure plate is letting up of the clutch but can't spin the clutch itself. I think I might have put the clutch disc in backwards here's a picture of when I put it together 20220326_101040.jpg 20220412_165815.jpg 20220326_132344.jpg what do you think? I'm sure it's going to have to come apart anyways

Yes the linkage is working correctly and pushing the throwout bearing all the way in as far as it can go

It could be stuck to the flywheel but I've got the clutch pedal down and I'm trying to run the rear tires and can't break them loose. I don't think that it's pushing too far cuz I've tried it every spot with the clutch pedal

If the linkage has too much leverage, and not enough travel, then it won't release. Did you try removing all the free play and see if it releases?

It's hard for me to tell if the disc is in the right way. The springs and plate need to be towards the pressure plate, away from the flywheel. Is that how you assembled it? Did it have a label that told which way to install it?

I think the disc is in backwards and the springs are hitting the flywheel cap screws. photos 1&3 go to the pressure plate. #2 to the flywheel. But I don’t run a Long style.
With the flywheel on and the disc in your hand you should able to turn it against the flywheel and not hit the cap screws..

I'd say that Jimmy Six has the correct answer. Those raised pieces that hold the springs are catching on the flywheel bolts. Note that in the top photo in post 1 you don't see the raised pieces where they should be.

Check to make sure clutch shaft is not up against the pilot bearing.

As a second thought on my GMC 6’s I use Pontiac auto trans bolts on my stick shift flywheels because the are 1/2” 20 thread with a slight shoulder and thinner heads to clear springs if I don’t use one of my solid discs. I have never broke one or have one come loose. I use the stock two hole flats with bend-in keepers on the edges. I also use a SuperDamper on the front of the crankshaft.
Since this “appears” to be a race vehicle a solid disc IS worth some ET.

This motor was together with the Trans before so I don't think the input shaft is hitting on the bushing or the crank but it could be. I'll check it out tomorrow if I've got time

Here is a 371-394 flywheel, Olds disc and Ford Long style (Schiefer) pressure plate, should be all similar to what you have there.
On this setup the outer row of rivets on the disc hub assembly will hit the flywheel if installed backwards.
If I remember correctly the springs may also hit the crank bolts.
