    Yup, what he said. :)

The trans. is a 4spd Saginaw. I got the rubber mount for it at Autozone, only cost a couple bucks. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I belive that mount also fits the 350 and 400 automatics. I looked it up under a '77 or so Chevy 1/2 ton pickup if I remember correctly.

Cool, I'm glad ya like it! I'm 20 so I always try and take as many pics as possible when putting something together or taking it apart. Makes it easier to go back and see where I screwed up if something goes wrong..lol

Nice work. I like the simple and clean fabrication that you are doing. Will make a good driver. Not bad having your dad around for the help. Keep up the good work.

  10. Looks good man. You gave me some ideas on what to do with my bed. You gonna paint it up, or run it?

It's a driver so I'm just gonna run it as is. Maybe I'll paint it up once I finish the other million billion projects :D

Thanks for answering my questions on the mounts, guys. I went back and saw the rubber pads clear as day.
    Again, a great build!

I got my new pinion seal in, driveshaft in, and rear brakes figured out and put together. Another solid day or so of work and it should be ready for a test run :D

To my neighbors: I did NOT just make the maiden voyage in the '48, I did NOT blast up and down the street with open manifolds and no exhaust.

To the rest of ya: The '48 is ALLLLLIVE! :D The hydraulic clutch setup seems to work great, as do the power brakes and steering. The trans. shifted great and nothing fell off or blew up. Still got a list of things to do but it went down the road under it's own power so I'm happy with it :D

I'm using a '60's Chevy truck bellhousing with the stock hydraulic slave. It was a little tricky finding a M/C with a big enough bore that could be mounted out of sight and use the stock clutch pedal. The one I used is 1 1/8" bore Wilwood with remote fill, got it from Speedway. I had to put the fill on the firewall but that's better than the entire M/C being up there I guess

Here's a pic of the clutch M/C mounted. I wasn't sure it was going to work so I never posted a pic :D

I'm taking the truck in to get aligned tomorrow morning but had it out for a quick test run today after getting the exhaust put on last week. The Summit shifter leaves a little to be desired (loose and cheesy and locked up once ) and I think I'm gonna switch to a smaller CFM carb. Other than that everything seems to work fairly well.

    Thanks Martin :D

Yup, it's a knob from a sink. It was on the original 3 speed trans when I got the truck so I went ahead and reused it.

Took it in to get aligned, made a big difference in "road feel" was kind of light and twitchy before that. It stalled out on the way home whenever I went around a sharp corner while slowing down (like turning in the driveway, etc.) I figured the idle was to low (no tach, just set what sounded good) and luckily that turned out to be the problem. My dwell was a little off as well and since I was under the hood already I went ahead and tweaked on the timing. Runs alot better and smoother now.

And since driving home from the alignment shop when it's just about to rain and not having wipers really ****s I put one of those Speedway electric motor conversion kits in last night. Install was easy once I figured out how to do it  We'll have to wait 'till it rains to see how it really works though.

I put on a new side mirror and did a few other misc. things like that as well.
