Hot Rods Cmshaft ID Please

Hey greetings from Mississippi! Hope yall had a great 4th Holiday! Today I went to New Orleans & bought a garage fulla stuff from a really nice old hot rodder who's had a stroke & can't go anymore. One the things I got was a 283 w/ a set of pop ups in it. I was looking at the camshaft & it has some numbers on it. 587U, and 2599 and the word "FULL". The lifters are solid. Seems like I remember cams being called "Full Race" & "3/4 Race" eons ago. Anybody recognize this cam? It has the oil notch in the rear journal. Oh yeah one other question, he gave me a 55-64 posi third member. Gears are broken. It's got that old ****er Power Lok diff in it. Does anybody know for sure if the bolts that hold the unit together are right hand or left hand threads? Reason I ask is I have one them in a Dana 44 axle & it has left hand threads in it. Long story how I found that out but I wern't happy. Any way I wanna bust it apart & check the clutches before I install that other ge****t.

OK maybe this will help somebody in the future. Those are left hand thread bolts in that Trac Lok unit. Found the info in my 1955 Motors manual! Oh and subtracting the base circle from the lobe gives me the same measurements as the old 097 Chevy cam, I suspect it's a copy cat. Also found out my 283 is really a 1956 265 over bored to 3 7/8".

 

Sounds like you scored some cool stuff. A small block with pop-up pistons and a solid lifter cam is a recipe for fun. Any plans for the 265+? What heads and intake came with it?
Post a picture of the cam and ID numbers, someone here might recognize the numbers or the style.

 

Well since the block don't have any side mounts on it I doubt anybody would have much use for it. I'm gonna bust it apart & look at everthing. Heads are low comp 283 / 327 truck heads. I'd give these to someone if they wanted them. Engine came w/ a TM1 Edelbrock, a dual line 3310 Holley, Cal Custom finned rocker covers & a aluminum point distributor.. Also got two Foxbody 5.0 std flywheels, a 168 Chevy flywheel, the 55-57 clutch housing & all the clutch linkage, a single ring BW T-10, a basket case Muncie, a Comp Plus shifter & a Hurst V-Gate shifter & linkage. And a mystery std flywheel I've since ID'd as a Pre 76 Pontiac. Cam is in really good condition only numbers are what I posted at the top.
I dunno why I keep bringing this stuff home, I'ma ****er for this old stuff...I think I want to ring & brg the engine & put a set of my Power Packs on it w/ my last 283 4GC intake & carb. That posi chunk I'm not gonna do anything with. It has the "P' cast on the front face, dates codes to Nov 1960.
I need to let people start having some this stuff, it's all gonna go to s**** when my daughter cleans up behind me...
