Well I've never seen his show, and I have not yet had the chance to go to speed week, but I have 2 things to say and a request...

First off: I think if the SCTA and the Save The Salt org.'s are responsible for the repairs to the land to keep the BLM away then a bill should be sent to boyd as soon as the work is completed...

Second: The SCTA and any other org.'s involved should be able to issue permits at a fee or have some say so for any kind of filming or "productions" to be taking place durring their event... not only to raise needed funds but as a reward for putting up with their crap!

As for my request: first I'd like to say that I am ashamed to live in the city next to floyd cotterpins developmentally disabled day program he calls a shop... And would like for him to remove the word "American" from the name of his program as it seems to me the rest of the world sees an idiot on TV and the word "American" and assumes the worst...He is the last person I would want representing hotrodding. Maybe he could call it "Self absorbed crybaby hotrodder"

I wonder if the helicopter can tell how close to the salt he was...anyone remember the plane crash at B'ville a few years ago (OK it was probably more than a few...I'm gettin old) seems its very hard to see the surface when it's all just white with no real visual variations.
I also thought the salt was getting better from flooding the flats with saltwater every year....guess not huh?

The ol saying that i preach is true...."Everything cool gets ruined" !

Where were all of these people before Bonneville was the "Hip place to be" ?

I feel sorry for all of those die hard racers/back yard gearheads who are trying to conentrate in their pits out there, and have to deal with all of this So-Cal/Boyd media bullshit and helicopters buzzin around !

    My 2 cents.

  5. i bet it was way more than that..i'm guessing that real big rig came from a long ways away . some very expensive stuff too. travel time , overtime adds up

    i'm thinking $5000+

i know if i owned the tow company i'd bend them over good...i'm sure they had the same thought too

I'm not sure how much money Boyd really has. He's gone out of business at least once and he sold the wheel business some time ago. That TV show might be his cash cow.

I've never seen him actually do anything on the show so it's had to believe he was once a fabricator. Some of the bodies were built by Marcel's Custom Metal and (I think) Metal Masters. Anyway, whether he's "building" those nice cars depends on your definition.

<O:pThe cars on American Hot Rod are not my style but they are beautifully turned out. My only criticism is in how much filler they use. I'm frankly surprised that they show this on the show.

<O:pAnyway, I'm sure someone on the HAMB can fill us in.<O:p<O:p

sounds like all they had was some bad luck...

the "they made asses out of themselves" seems to be you projecting alot on them from your perception.

Did at any point they say they had showed up to show the hayseeds how it was done? or was that your take on it? Was it the fact they had a nice rig? or lots of friends to party with? Seems like those are your main problems with them.

I dont know Boyd, I'm not a fan.

  8. Man, if Boyd getting stuck gets that guy that wrote that so damn excited... he ain't any better off.

Big deal... guy wants to shoot an episode, gets stuck... you know, it was probably all planned. It makes sense, and good drama for the show.

I guess if you don't have anything better to do or write about... like me here at work right now... Yawn...

So look at it this way... you despize the drama... but you perpetuate it more than you perpetuate posts that actually have to do with hot rodding.

    Something is wrong with that.

    Sam nailed it.

Only positive to come of this will be when Boyd and/or TLC pays for the damage done to the salt.

This thread has run it's course...
