Well I have this truck I am trying to get some info on, it has been very difficult! I posted some pics. Other than that all I can tell you is it is a 1948(?) probably, GMC it has a 426 in it came from cali and the vin number is tm 9-892. I believe it was a WWII truck converted to an over the road delivery truck, it is 2 wheel drive and the ***le say's it is a 10 ton if memory serves me correct. It has a 120 mile an hour speedometer in it and is a 5 speed. I had a ton of notes of my previous computer but it crashed and I have not been able to recover most of the info. If there is anyone that can help. I would really appreciate it! I have only been able to find one other photo of anything similar on the web. attached is that pic.
Can't tell for sure , but it looks like it has the alligator type hood, that splits the grille in half when open. If so it would be a '46-'49 Heavy duty GMC COE. The earlier '38-'42 Heavy Duty COE's had a access door on each side of the one piece grille. Seems lie there was a story in the ATHS Wheels Of time magazine once about the Helms trucks. Their website is, www.aths.org . you might also want to join the www.oldgmctrucks.com website. i'm a COE collector myself. that's a neat truck you have.
Welcome. I would say it is a '39 GMC and the fact that the hood hinges open means it originally was a diesel. Mine was a gasoline truck and the grill is one piece and I have the access doors on the nose.I have collected a bit of original ads and sales brochures for mine, and that is what it says to me.
Cool trucks, but you should tell us about yourself. Seeing as that is what the rules say and this is only your 1st post.
