COE COE Picture thread (imported from main board)

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by Duration, Oct 30, 2007.

  1. I've seen this one twice at the Frog Follies. The bumper does take some getting used to, but the fit and finish is very good. (you would immediately think pro built) I used the same idea of using a sleeper to stretch the seating area of a too small cab and, on mine, cover a midships engine.

Haven't touched it, and probably won't until next summer. With the T roadster and shoebox my schedule is really crazy. I also have a '30 Sport Coupe to build, but it can wait.

Still, c'mon up and visit please. Would love to meet ya and talk hot rods!

Thanks mad-cad, the local tire shop I got them from had them turned for me.

The bumper on the '41 green, sleeper COE doesn't do it for me either, but what it does do well IMHO is give the appearance that the truck is lower than it really is. I really like that.

Obviously, he was going for function on the bed area...

But the cab!! Did you guys see that cab? Holy***** that's nice.. Little touches like the lower panel on the dash just fit right in.

  7. There is a lot of good "how to" sheet metal work in those videos. A lot of "wow I never would have thought of that" moments while watching it.

I just drug this on home, good Nebraska****le, looks ready to go but the engine is stuck and no brakes (standard condition there). Would make a great hauler with the 5 window cab. I prefer the extra room in my conventional cab International KB6 that I stretched and widened.

I am sorry if this is a repeat, I seem to have lost my post (and thought line).
This is the COE that I just drug home. 1950 5 window in very good shape sheet metal wise. Looks ready to run but the engine is stuck. My friends are telling me to build a car hauler but there must be another option, I do not need a truck just for hauling when I drive my cars and trucks.
How rare is a 5W COE?

Cool truck dude,it's in good nic, that's for sure, love the visor!

  11. I don't feel that the 5 window variation of your style of cab is particularly rare, just a guess but production was probably close to 50/50 3 window and 5 window.
I'm building one with an old style wrecker body, (without the wrecker boom) will put a 5th wheel on the deck so I can pull a travel trailer. Others have used pick-up beds or flat racks. Look back through this thread (close to 220 pages) there are many different examples and styles.

It might make a pretty cool camper though, depends on what you can come up with to make it work. Maybe find an old Airstream trailer and modify it to fit on the back and connect to the cab. Just a thought. :) Hell if you post a nice clear picture of the truck maybe I can Photoshop something along those lines.

i'd love to have one of those (especially with the dump bed) to make into a combination car/bike hauler and 5th wheel camper puller. what a way to retire: load up the scoot and a hot rod, then hook up the camper and go anywhere you want and have a bike and rod to drive when you get there. stay as long as you want without having to live out of a suitcase. move on when you feel like it.

OR (and this might be better yet) build a motor home out of it and put the bike and rod in an enclosed trailer which becomes a garage wherever you stop.

This is exactly mine and my wife's retirement plan! We'll have a Harley for when the weather is nice and a coupe for when it's not so nice! Maybe we'll see ya on the road!

Here is a side shot of the 50 Chevy. Let's see the Airsteam idea, it would make a show stopper for sure.

It'd look something like this, that was posted on this thread a few years ago.

I'm feeling a little better about the wood bumper on the COE video I posted a few days ago after seeing this...

That's pretty crazy right here. We are working on getting a 54 COE cab that is already on a P-30 chassis, front has air bags already, and I'll be putting a****mins and some sort of auto trans behind the cab too. Small world. :)

Thanks, I'll see what I can do, probably from a '50s or '60s era perspective. The green one is pretty cool but kinda makes me think of a street rod.:D

Yes. Sweet rig but I'm suprised you guys are re-posting it again. There was quite a stir the first time as it was dubbed as not appropriate for the hamb. ? He has just this week finished up another 51 ford coe stretched cab with tilt up cab but I only posted some progress pictures in the coe group and not in here so I didn't upset the traditional purists. (It has non traditional wheels and lugnuts) :)
    Cheers

  24. So WTF is a Street Rod, one that looks finished with nice paint on it?

It's hard to define as people have different tastes. To me, it's kind of like*****, I know it when I see it.

The HAMB is about TRADITIONAL hotrods and customs, not streetrods.
Ironic, because COE's are really neither......

  26. Maybe we should call all the COEs kustoms then, the green one certainly has body and suspension mods. The reason I asked what a street rod is, is because I don't know. Billet is street roddy, I don't see any billet on that truck. Paint style? Matching trailer? OahuEli, school me!
I agree with you that COEs were probably never hot rodded back in the day, so the presence of them here is off topic, but the powers that be surely must know this thread exists and at close to 220 pages it hasn't been closed.

I'm with b-bop, show us the PICTURES!

I agree, it is a little "street-roddy" but most all of them here are to a pretty big degree. Modern suspensions and drive trains in most every single one. This really is a borderline thread.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I'm the guilty party, LOL.

We have been warned by a mod in the past. They're well aware of the thread and I think as long as we keep it relatively on topic, relevant and free of drama it will continue to live and grow. At least I hope so!

I don't have any pictures right now as I didn't take any but I will get some this weekend if I can. IDK if I will post a build thread on here as for reasons above.

If you are worried about the mods on the main board, we would love to see your build over at the COE social group.
