Looks like it could do some damage to an overpass or gas station!

  4. I think the drivers would be very careful around low overpasses! (seein' how they would be the first one at the scene of the wreck)

I think these designs were the results of length laws. Back then the railroads had a lot of influence in government and didn't want the trucking industry to have it easy. Every car a truck could haul was one less for the railroad!

Anyone know the year of the yellow White? We recently purchased one very similar to this one, and are unsure of the year. Ours has different signal lights, and different clearance lights, but so far this is the closest picture we found. I have pictures of ours, but i cant seem to load them on here

  10. I don't have a lot of knowledge on the Whites of this style. Hank's has a picture of a 37 820 and a 44 820 that are different, (no fancy wings above the grille) by 48 they had come out with the 3000 series tilt cab. it is possible that this is a lighter duty truck that may have had slightly different styling. That yellow paint job makes me wonder if it was a Coka-Cola truck at one time.

I saw this one and drew it. I later learned the crusher got it ..If I would have known its destination I would have tried to purchase it.

OK, mine has the big set of wings on top of the grill like this one. Mine doesnt have the big hole on the bottom of the grill. (manual crank hole?)

Also my truck was manufactured in Canada, which I was told, may give minor differences as well.

Thanks rusty1, I like your Art work also.. The cartoonish look of your Art has great appeal to me. Every one who draws has there own look, all different. Its what sets us apart..

Went picking with the kid today, scored lots of goodies. This COE dump truck may be for sale soon, it is in great shape, cool logo/sticker on the door.

  21. People talk about how great the automotive designers Gordon Buehrig and Raymond Loewy were, but I think Count Sakhnoffsky was at least an equal.
    I love his White designs!

What amazes me is that so many of these tough old hard working trucks have survived despite the severe duty they served. They just keep popping up around the country and thanks to everyone that takes on a big project like this. Hopefully I'll get mine moved down to Arizona in the next month or two and at least have it here.

Photographer H.B. Cornelius offers here another prime example of American industry at work. In its early years Fortune took particular pride in revealing the labor process behind products consumers often took for granted.

This 1941 photograph shows workers piecing together trucks on the****embly line at a White Motor Co. plant in Cleveland, Ohio.

I used a combo of a huge farm tractor, a 5 ton flatbed truck and a skid steer to get mine moved from farm field and into my garage.

Thanks HJManiac, those are some awesome pictures. I'm thinking mine has to be around a 38'-39'.

I can email the pictures of my truck to someone to post. I cant seem to get it to work on my computer.
