COE COE Picture thread (imported from main board)

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by Duration, Oct 30, 2007.

  1. Exactly
I’ve seen a few of these (or this one multiple times) through the years, all listed on uPaY. One had the flat bed removed and the reframed rear chassis could be seen. I probably have pics on a thumb drive somewhere. If I find them, I’ll post them up here.

  2. Ps. I wish they all could be California trucks.
    Much less cancerous

  3. It probably has what is called a beverage truck chassis. Lower to the ground for easier unloading for the beverage driver.

Here is the White 3000 version.

  4. Now that's a lowrider! It would be a great car hauler. I'd sure like to see how they did it. Any suspension? Solid mounted axle? Drive shaft set-up? A picture of the chassis would really be worth a thousand words! Great find, thanks for posting.

I think this frame is even lower than that White 3000.

  6. Much lower, I don't see how the pumpkin of of the differential fits under the bed because the hub is centered on the bed/frame rail. That's what makes me think that rear axle is solidly mounted with no suspension and the bed floor is right on the top of the pumpkin. Even at that it still doesn't even look like there is room for it. If somebody from the area looks at it I would love to know what they see under there.

Here's a shot without the headache rack... Looks like the truck's frame is above the bed..

  8. It almost looks like they welded the frame for the bed underneath the frame the cab is sitting on in front. Is that a small bump or cover over the driveshaft up in the front of the bed?

Looks like we'll never know now because it must have sold and because the seller deleted the ad. I hope a HAMBER bought it and tells us the rest of story.

  13. Have to sell a lot of pizza to pay for that build! Never have figured out the economics of it.

  15. It sure looks like it Steve, but now with a car hauler flatbed. Same steering column, dash and step in the front fender. A good deal for a built truck. I wonder how well the little Izusu diesel four moves it down the road?

    Bore: 4.0157in

    Valves: 8

    Exhaust LHS (drivers perspective).
Weight: Approx 770lbs turbo. 744lbs NA (source Isuzu spec sheet from 1988)
    Dimensions NA: 31.3in long x 27.8in wide x 29.7in tall.
Bellhousings: SAE #3 automotive (rare), SAE #3 industrial (rare), Landrover LT85/95 (rare), Isuzu truck pattern (most common).
Starting aids: Glowplugs and excess fuel.
Electrical: 12v in US market, 24v in rest of the world.
Turbochargers: IHI RHB6 (early), Garrett T25 wastegated (early), Garrett T25 freefloat with T3 flange or Garrett T25 wastegated with T3 flange.
Alternator: 12v or 24v depending on market, vacuum pump on rear. Located high on LHS (drivers perspective).
AC Compressor: if fitted below alternator on LHS (drivers perspective).

(On the highway, one is always running over Isuzu box trucks)

  17. In 2007 Izusu started offering the GMC 6.0L LS as the standard motor in them, that would be a great chassis and engine to use.

  18. Shortly after I bought my Autocar, I picked up a 1990 NPR to use as chassis and power. After getting it home and doing a bunch of measuring, I realized the track width was way to narrow for the Autocar cab and there was severe rust jacking between frame rails and cross members. My chassis also had 5.13 gears so I would have been very limited on top end and I felt the engine wouldn't have had the snort for higher gearing. I wisely got out the cutting torch, junked the chassis and took the financial hit. I still have the engine and trans. (I think it would be a good fit in an older Dodge Dakota)
The Isuzu chassis appears to be a much better fit under this Ford.

At the Good-Guys, Scottsdale last weekend saw this. Going on the block at Barret-Jackson in January. Over the front tandem axle is an opening with a fifth wheel hitch, it should be in their catalogue.

  21. I see it has an early 60s Chrysler dash, to me, those are one of the coolest ever built!

2 pretty rough COEs at the local boneyard. $4500 for both.. The better 38/39 has a decent 41 grill kept inside...

  25. Wetskier, all it takes is one rich idiot!
I know it has been almost 20 years since I bought my Autocar, but at the time $958 was top bid for a truck that is about 50 times more rare than that series Ford and about the same condition
