Hi all. I'm a 3D modeller and was looking for something interesting to model. I developed a liking for the early Ford COEs. I used many images from this thread as references so I thought I'd post my work for the COE fans here.

Back in late 50,s, a buddy and I was offered a 37 or 38 era GMC coe for FREE! just move it! boy did we do some thinking. we were way ahead of the curve on what to do to build one into a cool hauler. but sadly the realities of space time and money didnt allow us to follow our dreams. I think it had a flathead Olds 6?

  18. The Piggy back black Ford COE belongs to Merle Prusia and the Blue 40 carrying it belongs to Mike Woodard, you can find builup photo's of both COE's on my web site in the overseas section. http://www.ozcoetrucks.net16.net/Index.a.html

This is a GMC COE body on the back of the tile wagon. I saw the 'tile wagon' posted in this thread in a couple places. The guy on the left built it on a mopar motorhome chassis. He then refreshed it and lowered it a bit. He sold it, bought it back, and then sold it again to James Hetfield, guitarist for the Metallica band, who I think is still the current owner.

The tile wagon has been on the road for many years.

In this photo you can see the bed is notched and the truck is lowered and repainted:

I started to build the GMC and had it mounted on a Chevy 1 ton chassis, but I traded projects and priorities. A local high school shop teacher ended up with the cab and I don't know if he built it. My chassis is under a green 40 ford COE that was built by the previous tile wagon owner.

The Tile Wagon builder built this truck too. It sold at Barret Jackson a few years back for about $68000 if I recall correctly. The builder got cold feet and stopped the sale and paid whatever penalties to keep it and still owns it. He built an almost identical truck in a dark green color for another friend in the tile bidness. This photo is at the Big 3 auto swap meet at Qualcomm Stadium 2009. I will be there in 2010 and this truck will probably be there too, along with the orange one in my avatar. Stop in and say hi. I will buy you a beer.
